How to Invite a New Portal User in NX Restaurant
When adding a portal user who doesn't yet exist in the system, you must create them from scratch using the Create and Attach New User flow. This article walks you through the steps and explains why the button may appear grayed out.
Why Is "Create and Attach New User" Grayed Out?
The Create and Attach New User button only becomes active after all four required fields are filled in. Simply searching for a user and getting "User Not Found" is not enough to enable it.
All four fields below are required before the button will activate:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Phone
Step-by-Step: Inviting a New User
- Navigate to the venue's portal user section.
- Search for the user by email address.
- If the result is "User Not Found", do not stop — this is expected for new users.
- Fill in all four required fields: First Name, Last Name, Email, and Phone.
- Once all fields are complete, the Create and Attach New User button will become active.
- Click the button to create the user and attach them to the venue.
Common Mistakes
- Stopping after "User Not Found" — This message just means the user isn't in the system yet. You still need to fill out the form to create them.
- Leaving any field blank — Even one missing field (most commonly Phone) will keep the button disabled.
- Expecting to click "Create" first, then fill in details — The flow requires you to fill in all details before clicking Create.
