Staying Up to Date: NX Portal Version Updates
At NX Restaurant, we are constantly cooking up new features and improvements to make managing your business smoother. Because the NX Portal is a web-based platform, we can push out these updates in real-time.
If you keep your portal tab open for a long period—like many of us do during a busy shift—you might see a notification pop up letting you know a newer version is ready for you.
What is the Update Notification?
When a new version of the NX Portal (e.g., version 2.120.2) is published while you are still logged in, a blue dialogue box will appear at the top of your screen.
This message is simply letting you know that the "kitchen" has finished a new recipe and it's ready to be served! You will see two options:
Reload: This is the "Yes, please!" button. It instantly refreshes your browser to apply the latest updates.
Ignore: This keeps you on the current version you are using.
Why You Should Always Click "Reload"
While it might be tempting to click "Ignore" if you’re in the middle of a task, we highly recommend clicking Reload as soon as you see this message. Here’s why:
New Features: You gain immediate access to the latest tools and interface improvements.
Bug Fixes: Updates often include "under-the-hood" fixes that keep the portal running fast and prevent errors.
Data Accuracy: Using the most recent version ensures that the information you see—and the changes you save—are syncing perfectly with our servers.
What if I missed the pop-up?
If you accidentally clicked "Ignore" or closed the notification, no sweat. You can manually update to the latest version at any time by simply refreshing your web browser (clicking the circular arrow icon next to your URL bar or pressing F5 on your keyboard).
Still seeing the notification after reloading? Try logging out and logging back in, or clearing your browser cache to ensure your computer isn't "remembering" the old version.
