Restricting Order Visibility by Job Area in NX Restaurant
In a high-volume environment, a cluttered order screen is a recipe for mistakes. Your Baristas don't need to see the chaos of the Patio, and your Bartenders certainly don't need to track every Togo order from the front counter.
By using the "View orders in current area only" setting, you can ensure your team stays focused on the orders that actually belong to their station.
How it Works
When this setting is enabled for a specific Job, any employee clocked in under that role will only see orders associated with the Area (e.g., "Bar," "Cafe," or "Dining Room") where their POS terminal is assigned or where they are currently working.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Log in to the NX Portal.
On the left-hand navigation menu, click Venue, then select Configuration.
Under the Labor section, click on Jobs.
Select the Job you want to edit (for example: Barista).
Scroll down to the POS Options section.
Locate the toggle for View orders in current area only.
Switch the toggle to ON (the toggle will turn purple).
Note: The helper text confirms: "The employee will only be able to view orders for their current Area."
Click the Save button in the bottom right corner to push these changes to your terminals.
Why This Matters for Your Ops
Cleaner Screens: Reduces "visual noise," allowing your staff to find their specific tickets faster.
Station Accountability: Keeps the Barista focused on the Cafe and the Bartender focused on the Bar.
Speed of Service: Less scrolling means faster turn times and happier guests.
Quick Tip: If you have a Lead Server or Floor Manager job, you’ll likely want to keep this toggle OFF. This allows them to see every open order in the house, regardless of which area they are standing in!
