Configuring Breaks for Use with Jobs in the NX Restaurant Portal
The Breaks section in Configuration > Labor > Breaks allows you to define and manage the types of employee breaks available in your organization. These break types can then be assigned to jobs to ensure labor compliance and operational consistency.
🔍 Additional break behavior, such as enforcement and override permissions, can be configured at the job level in the Permissions tab of Configuration > Labor > Jobs.
Break Settings
Name
The label for the break type (e.g., Meal Break, Rest Break). This name appears in the job settings and other relevant configurations.
Options
Required
When enabled, this break is treated as mandatory for compliance and reporting purposes. Example: A 30-minute meal break required after a 5-hour shift.
Paid
Determines whether the break time is paid or unpaid. Enable this if the employee should be compensated for this break period.
Time Requirements
Minimum Duration (minutes)
Sets the shortest acceptable length for the break. If the break taken is shorter than this, it may not be counted or may trigger a violation notification.
Maximum Duration (minutes)
Sets the longest allowable time for the break. Used to flag or prevent breaks that extend beyond policy limits.
