Configuring Jobs: POS Options > Drawer Options in NX Restaurant Portal
The Drawer Options section under the POS Options tab allows operators to define how employees in a specific job interact with accountability drawers in the POS. Drawers are used to track payments, enforce accountability, and manage cash-handling responsibilities.
These settings are especially important for roles that handle payments and require tight control over who can open, close, or edit drawer balances.
Navigating to Drawer Options
To access these settings:
- Log in to the NX Restaurant Portal Go to Configuration → Labor → Jobs
- Select a job or create a new one
- Click the POS Options tab
- Scroll to the Drawer Options section
Drawer Options Settings
Use Drawers
Enables the drawer system for this job. When turned on, employees in this role will be assigned drawers and expected to interact with them for payment processing.
Require Drawer for Payment
When enabled, employees must be assigned to a drawer before they can process any payments. This setting ensures all transactions are properly tracked to a drawer.
Select Drawer at Clock In
Prompts employees to select a drawer when clocking in. This is useful in operations where drawers are shared or reassigned daily.
Enter Starting Amount
Allows employees to manually enter the starting cash amount in their drawer when assigned or at the start of a shift.
Adjust Starting Amount
Grants permission to modify the starting amount after it has already been declared. This is often restricted to managers or leads.
Enter Ending Amount
Allows employees to enter the ending balance of their drawer when closing it out.
Adjust Ending Amount
Permits adjustment of the ending amount after it has been declared. Typically used in troubleshooting or reconciliation scenarios.
Restrict to One Drawer
Limits the employee to selecting and using only one drawer at a time. This prevents simultaneous assignments and increases accountability.
Default Starting Amount
Lets you define a preset starting amount that will auto-fill when a drawer is created or opened. Employees can override it if allowed by other settings.
Saving Changes
After making any updates, select Save in the lower right corner to apply the changes. Use Cancel to discard edits and return to the job list.
