Configuring Jobs: POS Options > Order Options in NX Restaurant Portal
The POS Options tab within a Job profile in the NX Restaurant Portal defines specific ordering behaviors and workflows for employees assigned to that job. The Order Options section contains settings that directly impact how employees interact with the POS during service, from order entry to receipt handling.
Navigating to POS Options
To access these settings:
- Log in to the NX Restaurant Portal Go to Configuration → Labor → Jobs
- Select a job or create a new one Click the POS Options tab
- Scroll to the Order Options section
Order Options Settings
Timeout
Sets the number of seconds before an employee is automatically logged out of the POS due to inactivity.
Example: A value of 60 logs the employee out after 1 minute of idle time.
Order Entry Back Button Action
Specifies what action should occur when the back button is pressed during order entry.
Options include:
- Delete rang items – Deletes any items that have been added before exiting the screen.
- Hold rang items – Holds any items that have been added before exiting the screen.
- Send rang items – Sends any items that have been added before exiting the screen.
- Prompt – Prompts the user to confirm their action.
Print order after close
When enabled, the POS automatically prints a receipt after the order is closed.
Print receipt after tip adjust
When enabled, the system prints a new receipt after a tip is added or modified on a transaction.
Table required for orders
Requires the employee to assign a table when creating a new order.
Useful for table-service environments where every order must be associated with a dining area.
View orders in current area only
When enabled, the employee can only view orders created in their assigned area (e.g., Coffee Shop or Patio), helping limit visibility to their own zone.
Allow searching across all menu items
Allows the employee to search for any menu item across all available menus in Order Entry, not just those in the active menu set.
Saving Changes
After making any updates, select Save in the lower right corner to apply the changes. Use Cancel to discard edits and return to the job list.
