Managing Permission Sets in NX Restaurant
Permission Sets in NX Restaurant are reusable, named collections of permissions that define what an employee can see and do within the system. These sets can be assigned to individual Jobs or directly to Employees, making it easier to manage consistent access levels across multiple roles.
What is a Permission Set?
A Permission Set is a predefined group of permissions that control access to features within the POS and back-office portal. These permissions might include actions like opening drawers, modifying settings, or viewing reports.
Using permission sets offers several benefits:
✅ Efficiency: Configure permissions once and apply them to multiple jobs or users.
✅ Consistency: Ensure users in the same role or function have matching access.
✅ Simplified Maintenance: Updates to the permission set automatically apply to all assigned jobs and employees.
Navigating to Permission Sets
To access and edit Permission Sets:
- Log in to the NX Restaurant Portal.
- Use the left-hand navigation menu and go to: Configuration → Labor → Permission Sets
Creating or Editing a Permission Set
When creating or editing a Permission Set, you’ll see the following:
- Name: A required field where you define the name of the permission set (e.g., Manager, Cashier, Supervisor). This name will be visible when assigning it to Jobs or Employees. Permissions Filter: A search bar to quickly locate specific permissions.
- Permissions List: Organized by categories (such as POS and Portal), you can enable or disable individual permissions.
- Each permission includes:
- A name
- A description of what the permission allows
- A toggle checkbox to enable (✓), disable, or disallow (x) the permission
- Each permission includes:
✅ Use the toggles to control whether a permission is granted to users assigned this set.
Assigning Permission Sets
Once a permission set is created, it can be applied in two ways:
- To a Job: Ensures all employees in the job inherit the same permissions.
- To an Employee: Useful for unique access needs that differ from the job default.
🔒 Employees will receive the most permissive access if they are assigned both a Job-based and an individual Permission Set.
