Configuring Jobs: General Tab in NX Restaurant Portal
The Jobs section in the NX Restaurant Portal is where operators define employee roles and control how those roles behave in the POS and timekeeping systems. The General tab is the first stop when setting up or editing a job and includes core attributes that determine how employees in this job group are categorized and accessed in the system.
Navigating to Jobs
To access the Jobs configuration page:
- Log in to the NX Restaurant Portal Go to Configuration → Labor → Jobs
- Select an existing job or click to create a new one
- The General tab will open by default
General Tab Fields
Name* (Required)
Enter the name of the job (e.g., Barista, Host, Manager). This is how the role will be labeled throughout the system, including scheduling, reporting, and employee profiles.
Labor Group* (Required)
Select the Labor Group that this job belongs to. Labor groups are used to group jobs for scheduling and reporting purposes.
Example: A job titled Barista might belong to the Front of House labor group, which helps managers view and manage scheduling needs for that department.
Default Area
Assign a Default Area where this job typically operates. This setting affects:
- The order entry screens available when logging into POS
- Which area is pre-selected when new orders are started
- Reporting and labor tracking by area
Base Pay Rate
Set a Base Pay Rate that will be used as the default pay rate for employees working this job unless a rate is specified by the specific employee setup.
POS Login Option* (Required)
Select how employees with this job can interact with the Point of Sale:
- None – The job has no POS or time clock access (e.g., for corporate or admin-only roles).
- Time clock only – Employees can clock in and out but cannot access POS functions.
- POS and time clock – Employees can both access the POS and clock in/out.
⚠️ This setting directly affects employee visibility and functionality within the POS system.
Saving Changes
After making any updates, select Save in the lower right corner to apply the changes. Use Cancel to discard edits and return to the job list.
