Managing Subdomains for Online Presence
In the NX platform, Subdomains are the digital "doorways" your guests use to access your services outside of your physical four walls. Whether you are setting up standard online ordering, a dedicated catering portal, or a site for selling gift cards, the Subdomains area is where you create and manage these unique web links.
To access these settings, navigate to Venue > Subdomains in the left-hand sidebar.
1. Creating Multiple Links
One of the most powerful features of the NX platform is the ability to create multiple subdomains for different purposes. You aren't limited to just one "Online Order" button.
Standard Online Ordering: A link for your everyday menu.
Catering: A separate link that pulls from a specific catering menu and rule set.
Gift Cards: A dedicated URL for guests to purchase digital or physical gift cards.
2. Subdomain Settings
When you click into a Subdomain, you will define how the link looks and behaves:
Name: Give the link a descriptive internal name (e.g., "Main Online Ordering" or "Holiday Catering").
Type: Select the category for the link, such as Online order.
Subdomain: This is the text that appears at the start of your URL. For example, entering
nxbarandgrillwill create a link that looks likehttps://nxbarandgrill.nxorders.com/.Area: This is a critical setting. You must select which Area in your venue the subdomain should pull its menu and order handling rules from. This allows your "Catering" subdomain to pull from a "Catering" area with different pricing or lead times.
3. Sharing Your Link
Once you have saved your subdomain, a live URL Link will be generated.
Direct Access: You can click the link to test your guest-facing site immediately.
Integration: Right-click the link to copy the URL so you can embed it into your restaurant's main website, post it on social media, or include it in marketing emails to direct guests exactly where they need to go.
Pro Tip: Keep your subdomain names short, simple, and easy to type for guests who might be entering them manually from a flyer or business card.
