Managing Your Venue: General Settings
The General Settings area is the foundation of your restaurant's digital identity in the NX platform. This is where you define how your venue appears to guests, who the primary contacts are, and critical operational defaults like your "Go Live" date.
To access these settings, navigate to Venue > General Settings in the left-hand sidebar.
1. Venue Settings (The Basics)
The General tab contains the core identity of your establishment.
Name: Your venue’s full name as it will appear on guest receipts and online.
Alias: A shortened version of your venue name for internal platform use in areas such as the NX Portal and NX Mobile.
Short Code: A unique 6-digit identifier used to quickly locate your venue in the system or attach POS Devices.
Time Zone: Ensures your reporting and schedules align with your local time.
Go Live Date: The official date your venue began (or will begin) processing live transactions. Any transactional data prior to this date will not show in reports.
2. Operational Defaults
Under the Defaults section, you set the "starting point" for daily operations:
Default Merchant Account: The primary payment account used for processing credit card transactions.
Default Area: The floor plan area (e.g., "Dine In") that the POS will automatically open to when a staff member logs in.
3. Contact & Branding
A separate section of the General tab allows you to manage how you communicate and how your brand is presented.
Administrative Contact: The primary name, email, and phone number for account-level notifications.
Website URL: Your restaurant's official website link.
Branding: Upload your logos for various uses. You can set specific images for the Portal, Guest Checks, the POS interface, and even the Guest Display. You can also define your brand's Primary and Secondary Colors to theme your digital presence.
4. Technical & Security Settings
The Technical tab handles deeper system configurations that usually only require a one-time setup.
Cloud Logging: When enabled, your in-store POS devices will post diagnostic logs to the NX cloud. This is vital for troubleshooting with support.
Venue Access Codes: You can set the Access Code Length (typically 4 digits) for the security codes employees use to log into the POS.
Pro Tip: If you are part of a multi-unit group, some of these settings may be locked at the Enterprise level to ensure brand consistency across all locations.
