Understanding NX Reports
The NX reporting system provides powerful, real-time insights into your restaurant’s performance — from sales and labor to discounts, payments, and more.
This article explains the general structure, common terminology, and report options shared across all NX reports so you can read, schedule, and interpret them with confidence.
📘 What NX Reports Are
NX Reports allow you to view detailed business metrics directly from your POS and portal.
Each report is designed to help you make data-driven decisions — whether that’s managing labor, tracking discounts, or comparing sales trends.
Reports can be viewed instantly or scheduled for regular delivery, giving you flexibility in how you monitor your business.
⚙️ General Report Options
Every NX report includes a General Settings section, followed by Report-Specific Settings.
These general options are consistent across nearly all NX reports.
🕒 Timing Options
You can choose when the report should run:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Now | Runs the report immediately. |
| Scheduled | Allows you to set the report to run automatically in the future. |
If you select Scheduled, three sub-options become available:
| Type | Description | |
|---|---|---|
| Once | Runs one time on the selected date and time. |
|
| Rate | Runs at a fixed interval (e.g., every N minutes, hours, or days). |
|
| Recurring | Runs based on a weekly schedule (specific days and time). |
|
✉️ Destination Options
Next, choose how you want to receive the report:
| Option | Description | |
|---|---|---|
| View | Opens the report immediately in your browser. | |
| Sends the report directly to one or more email addresses. | ||
| SMS | Sends a text message containing a link to view the report online. |
🗓️ Date Preset Options
Nearly all reports allow you to choose a Date Preset — defining the date range for the data you want to view.
Common presets include:
| Preset | Description | |
|---|---|---|
| Today | Displays data from the current business day. |
|
| Yesterday | Displays data from the previous business day. | |
| This Week | Aggregates all data from the current week. | |
| Last Week | Shows data for the full previous week. | |
| This Month / Last Month | Monthly summaries of activity. | |
| Custom | Allows manual start and end date selection. |
🏢 Organization Scope
NX supports multiple levels of reporting access:
| Level | Description |
|---|---|
| Venue | Generates data for a single location. |
| Market | Aggregates data across a defined collection of venues. |
| Enterprise | Displays combined data for all venues within your organization. |
When running a Market or Enterprise report, only venues the logged-in user has access to will be included.
⚙️ Report-Specific Settings
Below the general options, each report contains unique configuration settings related to that specific data type — such as filtering by:
- Labor Group
- Sales Category
- Date Range
- Order Type
- Payment Type
These settings vary by report but follow the same easy-to-use NX interface design.
📊 Common NX Reporting Terminology
Understanding these key terms will help you interpret report data across the NX reporting suite:

These definitions are consistent across all NX reports.
✅ How to Read NX Reports Effectively
- Start with Totals:
Look at the top or bottom of the report to understand the overall picture. (For example, total sales, total labor, or total discounts.) - Compare Percentages:
Ratios like Labor % or Discount % tell you much more than raw dollar values. - Use Graphs When Available:
Visual charts (available in Performance, Labor %, and similar reports) help you spot trends faster. - Drill Down When Needed:
Use “Group by” or “Detail” options (like Order-Level View) for deeper analysis. - Automate It:
Schedule key reports via Email or SMS so you never miss critical daily data.
💡 Example Use Cases
- A General Manager schedules the Daily Sales Report to email every morning at 7 AM.
- A Regional Operator runs the Performance Report for the last week to compare venue results.
- An Owner subscribes to a Labor % Report SMS every Friday for a quick weekend staffing check.
