Setting Up Tables in NX Restaurant
Â
Tables in NX Restaurant are defined seating areas used for managing orders through the POS floor plan interface. Each table acts as a container for orders and can be customized to support unique operational behaviors within a venue. Before a table can be used in a floor plan layout, it must first be created in the Venue > Floor Plans > Tables section of the NX Restaurant portal.
Â
Why Tables Matter
Â
Tables do more than define seating—they:
- Enable easy access to orders via a floor plan.
- Allow servers to start and manage orders tied to a specific location.
- Support guest experience tracking (guest count, auto-rung items, etc.).
- Can be reused across multiple floor plan layouts for different shifts or dayparts.
Â
Table Setup Fields
Â
Basic Settings
- Active: Toggle to enable or disable the table for use.
- Table Name: The unique name that will display in the floor plan and POS.
- Shape: Select the visual shape (circle, square, etc.) as it appears in the floor plan.
- Type: Define the table’s category if desired (e.g., standard, bar, patio).
Â
Operational Configuration (Optional)
These fields are not required for table use but allow more control:
- Suppress Guest Prompt: When enabled, employees won’t be asked to enter a guest count when starting an order on this table.
- Default Guest Count: Pre-fills the guest count when starting an order.
- Minimum / Maximum Guest Count: Enforces valid guest count ranges for this table.
- Default Area: Automatically assigns orders from this table to a specific area (if not set, the system will use the area assigned to the employee’s job or station).
- Auto-Ring Item: Automatically adds a specific menu item to the check when the table is opened (e.g., bottled water, table fee, or seating note).
Â
Using Tables in Floor Plans
Once created, tables can be added to one or more layouts under Venue > Floor Plans > Layouts. This flexibility allows the same table to be reused across multiple configurations (e.g., brunch vs. dinner floor plans). Floor Plan Layouts are then attached to each Area they can be used in.
