Stay Informed on Shift: Viewing Employee Messages on the POS 📋💬
Clear communication keeps a shift running smoothly. The Employee Messages feature brings shift notes, menu changes, policy updates, and important announcements directly to your point-of-sale (POS) terminal screen. Because announcements are tied directly to your specific login profile, you will only ever see messages addressed to you—ensuring total privacy even on shared floor terminals.
📥 Two Ways Messages Are Delivered
Messages arrive in real time while you are on the floor. Depending on how critical the announcement is, managers can send updates in two ways:
1. Regular Messages (Read on Your Own Time) 🕒
These are general updates that sit quietly in your inbox until you are ready to review them. You can access them at any point during your shift from your terminal's utility panel.
Tap the slide-out menu button on your order entry screen.
Look under the User sub-header and tap Messages.
Your personal inbox will slide open, displaying the Subject, Sender, and the exact Date/Time it was received. Unread notes are highlighted so they stand out.
2. Must-Read Messages (Acknowledgement Required) 🚨
For critical announcements—such as urgent safety updates or daily kitchen special changes—managers can mandate a read acknowledgement. These act as a temporary stop on your screen.
The very second you login or clock into a terminal, the message will pop up full-screen.
The rest of the POS interface is temporarily blocked until you interact with the notice.
To clear the screen: Read the text fully and tap the blue Acknowledge button. If your team has sent multiple must-read updates, you can quickly tap I've read all (N) to clear them all at once.
🛠️ System Safeguard: There is no way to skip, exit out, or bypass a must-read notice using a back button. It is designed to be an un-skippable checkpoint so critical restaurant news is never missed. Once you tap acknowledge, it logs your receipt in the back office and won't pop up again!
🖨️ Printing an Announcement
Need a physical copy of a catering schedule, kitchen layout adjustment, or the daily food specs to pin up in the back of the house? While reading any message on the POS terminal interface, simply tap the Print button in the bottom left-hand corner to instantly spit out a paper copy from your station's receipt printer!

Will other employees see my private messages on a shared terminal?
Not at all. Messages are completely confidential to each employee profile. The terminal dynamically updates your inbox based on exactly who is actively typed or swiped into the terminal lock screen.
I acknowledged an update earlier today—will it keep popping up during my shift?
Nope! Once an announcement is acknowledged, the system permanently records your read receipt and neutralizes the popup so it won't interrupt your workflow again.
Do employee messages still work if our restaurant's internet drops?
Yes! All messages that successfully downloaded to your terminal before an internet blip are securely cached on the hardware locally. You can read, print, and formally acknowledge them completely offline. The system will hold your data and sync your read receipts back to the manager portal the moment the network restores! 🌐🔄
Who creates these announcements?
Your restaurant’s head office or management team builds, designs, and schedules these updates straight from their back-office NX Portal.
