Adding a Gratuity to an Order in NX Restaurant
A gratuity is a tip added by the business to an order. It is distributed to the employee(s) working on the order or shift based on tip pooling rules. Unlike discretionary tips left by guests, gratuities may be taxed and are considered wages by the federal government, requiring separate reporting.
This guide explains how to add a gratuity to an order using two methods: the Utility Menu and the Options button within the order.
1. Adding a Gratuity Using the Utility Menu
Step 1: Open the Order

Ensure the order is open on the POS screen.
Step 2: Access the Utility Menu

Tap the Utility Menu Icon in the top right corner.

Select Gratuity from the menu options.
Step 3: Enter the Gratuity Type & Amount

A dialog box will appear to select a predefined gratuity as a fixed amount or a percentage.

There may be options to prompt for the gratuity amount.

Select the gratuity and confirm.
2. Adding a Gratuity Using the Options Button
Step 1: Open the Order

Ensure the order is open and visible on the POS screen.
Step 2: Navigate to Options

Tap the Options button within the order view.

Select the Gratuity button from the available options.
Step 3: Enter the Gratuity Type & Amount

A dialog box will appear to select a predefined gratuity as a fixed amount or a percentage.

There may be options to prompt for the gratuity amount.

Select the gratuity and confirm.
