Managing Fees on NX POS
Sometimes an order needs a little something extra—like a service charge for a large party or a specific delivery fee. While many fees in NX Restaurant are automated, you have the flexibility to manually add or remove them right from the POS.
Note: To add a fee at the POS, it must first be created in the NX Portal under Configuration > Ordering > Fees. If you don't see the fee you need, check your Portal settings first!
How to Manually Add a Fee
There are two primary ways to add a fee to an active order depending on where you are in the transaction.
Option 1: From the Order Check or Pay Screen
-
On the left-hand side of the screen (your active check), look for the Add Fee button.
Tip: This is usually located right below the item list or on the Pay screen.
Tap Add Fee.
A "Select Order Fee" pop-up will appear. Tap the dropdown to Please Make a Selection.
Choose the appropriate fee (e.g., "Set 10%" or "Service Charge").
Hit Continue. The fee will now appear in your order summary with the calculated amount.
Option 2: Using the Order Info Menu
Tap the three vertical dots in the Order Header (where the Order # and Guest Name are located) to open the menu options.
Select Order Info from the list.
In the Order Commands grid, tap the Order Fee button or hit New Fee from the Order Info area.
Select your fee from the dropdown menu and confirm.
How to Remove a Fee
If a fee was added in error or needs to be waived, removing it is quick and easy.
Tap the three vertical dots in the Order Header (where the Order # and Guest Name are located) to open the menu options.
Select Order Info from the dropdown.
From the Order Info tabs select the one that looks like a bullet point list (three dot + line).
Identify the fee that needs to be removed and on the fee listed swipe right to left.
A confirmation will display and you can confirm the removed by selecting Delete.
Good to Know
Sticky Fees: Once a fee is added to an order, it stays there until it is manually removed.
Permissions: Not everyone can add or remove fees. If these options are greyed out or require a manager swipe, check your User Permissions in the NX Portal.
Automation: Remember that NX can also handle fees automatically based on Order Type (like Delivery), Payment Method, or even Guest Count (Auto-Gratuity). This manual method is perfect for those "exception to the rule" moments!
