Planning Ahead: Mastering Queued Orders ๐ ๐
Queued Orders allow your team to take orders for the future directly from the POS. Whether it's a catering request for next week or a large takeout order for later tonight, NX handles the timing so your kitchen stays organized.
Getting Started: Creating a Queued Order ๐
Open the Menu: From the main POS screen, tap the sidebar menu and select Queued Orders.
Select an Area: You will be prompted to select an Area for the order (e.g., Take Out or Online Ordering).
Note: Only areas with "Allow In-Store Queued Orders" enabled in the Back Office will appear here.
Set the Due At Time: Select the Date and Time the guest expects to receive their order.
Confirm the Time: You must tap Confirm on the "Confirm Order Time" window to proceed.
Attaching a Customer & Order Info ๐ฅ
Every Queued Order must be linked to a customer record:
Search: Type at least 2 characters to find an existing customer.
Add New: Tap + Add to create a new profile on the fly.
Order Prompts: Complete any mandatory prompts (like Phone Number or Order Name) to enter the order entry screen.
Building the Order ๐ ๏ธ
Once you are in the order entry screen, you can add items just like a standard order. However, there are a few special features for queued orders:
Ordering Out of Stock Items: Unlike standard orders, NX allows you to add items currently marked as "Out of Stock." If you select one, a prompt will ask if you want to add it anywayโthis is perfect for items you know will be back in stock by the order's due date!
No Immediate Firing: Items added to a queued order will not send to the kitchen (preps) immediately.
Adjust Date/Time: Need to change the pickup? Tap the Adjust Date/Time button in the footer to update the schedule.
Add Notes: Tap the three dots (โฎ) to go to Order Info and use the Notes command to add specific instructions for the kitchen.
Saving and Submitting ๐พ
When you are finished building the order, tap Save. You will be presented with three choices:
Delete Order: Completely removes the request.
Leave as Pending: Saves the order but will not send it to the kitchen. Use this if the guest isn't ready to commit.
Submit Order: Officially queues the order.
Note: Depending on your venue settings, "Require payment to submit" may be turned on, requiring the guest to pay in full before the order is finalized.
How Does the Kitchen Get the Order? ๐จโ๐ณ
NX handles the timing automatically based on the Queued Order Release Rules set in the Back Office:
Lead Time: If an order is due at 5:30 PM and your area has a 45-minute lead time, NX will automatically fire the ticket to the kitchen at 4:45 PM.
Release Rules: Your manager may also configure orders to release at the Start of Day or a Custom Time.
Need Help? ๐ก
I don't see the 'Queued Orders' button.
Your Job Code may not have the required permissions. Ask a manager to check your Permission Sets.
The order didn't fire to the kitchen.
Check if the order was left in Pending status. Only Submitted orders will ever be released to the prep stations.
Can I take a partial deposit?
Yes! Use the Deposit button in the footer to take a payment toward the total without fully closing the check.
