🌟 What’s New in NX Restaurant v1.6.3
We’ve been working hard "Behind the Magic" to make your service smoother, faster, and more reliable. This update brings a massive redesign to the Kitchen Display System (KDS), new tools for managing future orders, and smarter hardware integrations.
📅 Queued & Future Orders BETA
Managing orders for tomorrow (or next week) is now much more powerful.
Area Selection First: When creating a queued order, you’ll pick the Area first to ensure pricing and availability are correct from the start.
Smarter Rules: The system now automatically enforces maximum days in advance, scheduling windows, and deposit requirements based on your back-office settings.
Deposits Made Easy: You can now take standalone deposits for future orders using the new "Deposit" button in the check footer.
Out-of-Stock Handling: You can now tap an out-of-stock item on a queued order to see a confirmation prompt before adding it.

📖 NX Host BETA
NX Host is NX's powerful waitlist & reservations built on the NX Platform and directly in POS. There is no need for additional tablets or disconnected systems with NX Host.

🎁 In-Store E-Gift
NX now allows you to extend the power of E-Gift for your in-store employees. Customers may purchase E-Gift cards directly from your in-store staff. Cards can be sent via email or SMS to the recipient.

📶 Offline Credit Enhancements
NX has improved it's Offline Credit processing feature by making it easier to handle Internet & Network outage episodes. Employees will now be prompted on each Card transaction to process offline, if a sufficient Network connection is not available.

☎️ Caller ID Integration
NX now integrates with the CallerId.com line of Caller ID boxes. Both the Whozz Calling & Vertex devices are support.

👥 Customer Manager
We've introduced a dedicated Customer Manager screen in the Manager View!
Search & Details: Easily find customers, view their history, and manage their account details.
Invoices & Account Payments: Send invoices or process "Paid In" account payments directly from the new interface.
Prompt for Customer: Some payment types can now be set to require a customer selection before the transaction can proceed.
🔄 Smart Transfers
Moving orders just got a whole lot more "context-aware."
To a Table: When moving an order to an empty table, the order will now automatically adopt that table's Area, Revenue Center, and Order Type.
To a Person: If you transfer an order to another employee, the order will now inherit the Area and Order Type associated with that employee's specific job.
💵 Quick Tenders in Order Entry
You can now add two new Order Commands to your Order Footer:
-
Tender Credit - displays a Credit tender button to quickly process a credit card payment.
The amount shown on the tender is the amount plus any applicable Payment Tender fees
-
Tender Cash - displays a Cash tender button to quickly process cash transactions.
This button supports the Prompt Amount option, if you desire the button to prompt for amount as opposed to "Exact Cash"
🖨️ Included Routing Groups
Support for Included Routing Groups (aka Chase Printing)
Routing Groups configured to include other Routing Groups will now have items flow to all applicable printers.
-
A great example of this is the "Burger & Salad" order.
Burger prints to Grill & Expo
Salad prints to Cold & Expo
When an employee orders a Burger by itself, it would print to Grill & Expo.
When an employee orders a Salad by itself, it would print to Cold & Expo
If an employee orders a Burger and a Salad, both items will print to Grill, Cold & Expo. Keeping the kitchen in full alignment.
🖥️ Printer & Routing Management in Manager View
Two new sections have been added to Manager View for easier hardware oversight.
- Printers: View all configured printer devices with a live status badge (Online / Offline / Error). Each printer has a context menu with a Test Print action.
- Routing Destinations: View all routing destinations and routing groups with their associated KDS configuration details.
💵 Cash Tray Management
We have introduced a dedicated Cash Tray Management screen in the Manager View. This allows for full lifecycle tracking of physical cash:
Accountability: Open, pause, and close trays with uniquely formatted names for every drawer.
Smart Counting: Closing a tray now features a denomination-count dialog to ensure your physical math matches the system.
Automatic Reporting: Cash Tray reports are generated on-demand or automatically upon closing.
Permission Driven: New permission tiers allow you to control who can open trays, add themselves to a drawer, or view final reports.

💰 Menu Item Price Point Tiles
When a menu item is configured to display price point options, a Prices tile now appears in the modifier panel alongside modifier categories. Tapping it expands a panel showing all available price points for that item, making upselling and price adjustments seamless without leaving the ring screen.
📺 Kentucky Digital Order Confirmation Boards
NX now supports direct integration with Kentucky Digital Order Confirmation Boards provided by RSS, giving customers a clear, real-time view of their order status.
🛠️ Other Improvements
Back Button Improvements: Implemented a new Back Navigation Policy; the back button now intelligently routes to the session's default Order Access Method (OAM) instead of simply popping the stack.
Global Text Size: You can now set the font scale for the entire app in the POS Device settings—no more squinting!
Order Multi-Select: In the Order List, tap the three dots (⋮) to enter Select Mode. You can now pay out, transfer, or print multiple orders at once.
Item Info Redesign: The "Menu Item Info" screen has a modern new look with larger images and organized info cards.
Secure Manual Entry: "Paid In" transactions now support secure manual card entry (if you have the correct permissions).
Schedule Enforcement — Unscheduled Employees: When a schedule is published for the week but an employee has no assigned shift that day, clock-in is now correctly blocked (or requires a manager override) when their job has schedule enforcement enabled. Previously, a missing shift would silently pass the enforcement gate.
End of Day Guard: Manual End of Day venues are now protected against accidentally triggering End of Day multiple times in quick succession.
Order Closing & Reopening: Orders will now only be marked as Closed when they are brought to a $0 balance via a tender, or the employee closes the order manually. $0 balance orders that are Open can now be closed by using the Cash tender.
- Crunchtime Kitchen Enhancements: Prep modifier names can now be appended or prepended to item descriptions sent to Crunchtime Kitchen. When a prep modifier is changed on a committed item (on-the-fly), that change is now pushed to Crunchtime Kitchen in real time — no manual resend needed.
🐞 Key Bug Fixes
Payment Stability: Fixed several "No serial number" and "Device Busy" errors specifically for VP3350.
Offline Payments: Fixed a bug where offline payments from previous days weren't always processing correctly. More info: Stay in Business, Even When the Internet is Out: NX Offline Payments
Scroll Issues: Fixed an issue where modifiers on the last item of a long check were hidden behind the footer.
Reporting Security: Fixed a loophole where employees could see "All Employee" reports even without permission.
Check Status Guard: Fixed a rare issue where closed or parked checks could revert to "In Progress" due to data sync delays.
KDS Recall: Fixed an issue where bumped tickets wouldn't appear in recall mode if they belonged to an inactive order type.
Refund Calculation: Fixed a math error where refunded item prices would oscillate between positive and negative on recalculation.
Check Status Guard: Fixed a rare issue where Closed or Parked checks could revert to "In Progress" due to concurrent data sync. Closed checks will no longer be recalculated and reopened unintentionally.
Auto-Close on $0 Balance: Checks will no longer automatically close just because the remaining balance reaches $0 (e.g. after an Owner Comp). A check is only Closed via an explicit tender or a manual close action.
Zero-Balance Cash Tender: If a check's remaining balance is already $0 and an employee selects Cash, the check now closes correctly without requiring an additional payment step.
Payment Stability (VP3350): Fixed several "No Serial Number" and spurious cancel errors specific to VP3350 USB devices. Resolves connection issues that required a full device reinit to recover.
Offline Payments: Fixed a bug where offline payments captured during previous business days weren't always processing correctly on recovery.
Split Order Quantities: Fixed an issue where item quantities would revert after moving a whole item to a seat that already had a fractional split of that item.
Modifier Scroll: Fixed an issue where modifiers on the last item of a long check were hidden behind the footer and couldn't be reached by scrolling.
Reporting Security: Fixed a loophole where employees without permission to view others' Shift Reports could deselect their own name and run the report for all employees.
Auto Ring Modifiers: Fixed an issue where Auto Ring Modifiers (Min 1, Max 1, 1 item) would not fire unless the Modifier Category was tapped first.
Negative Priced Item Discounts: Fixed an issue where applying a discount to a negative-priced item or modifier would result in the item not being discounted.
Order List Date Picker: Fixed an issue where navigating back to the Order List would trigger a spurious loading overlay due to the date picker re-firing on every navigation.
Print Queue Recovery: Fixed an issue where print jobs could be silently dropped if a print queue processor crashed. Queues now automatically restart dead processors on the next incoming job.
KDS Recall: Fixed bumped tickets not appearing in recall mode when they belonged to an order type that was no longer active.
Refund Calculation: Fixed a math error where refunded item prices would oscillate between positive and negative values on each recalculation.
Tip Adjust — Keyboard Entry: Fixed an issue where entering a tip via the keyboard and confirming with the Enter key would show $0 instead of the entered amount.
NFC / SureTap Crash: Fixed a crash in the Datacap EMV SDK triggered by initializing with an Activity context while in a RESUMED lifecycle state.
Gratuity NPE: Fixed a crash in per-guest gratuity calculation when the base amount was null.
Schedule Enforcement Timing: Fixed an issue where schedule enforcement might not activate if the employee's time card loaded before the schedule had finished loading in the background. Order
Action Auto-Select: When using an Order Action from the Order List, the order is now automatically selected if none was previously selected.
