NX Restaurant - Release 1.6.0

This update is packed with operational improvements! We are officially launching NX Shifts, refreshing the UI for better accessibility, and introducing critical visual indicators for Offline Mode. We've also added smart ordering tools like Timed Menus and Doubles, plus enhanced controls for payments and receipts.

🌟 New Features & Enhancements

Employee Management & NX Shifts

• NX Shifts Support: Official support for NX Shifts is now live! The Time Clock UI has been completely redesigned to support this new functionality. 📅

• Employee Roster Manager: Managers can now view the Employee Roster directly from Manager Functions.

  • View the list of currently scheduled employees.

  • Toggle to view a "whole-house" roster for all staff members.

Visual & Interface Improvements

• Enhanced Color Palette: We’ve tweaked the app colors to provide greater contrast between buttons, icons, and labels.

  • Accessibility Win: These changes specifically improve usability for users with color vision deficiencies. 👁️

• Guest Facing Display (GFD): A brand new interface for the Guest Facing Display features a cleaner UI and expanded customization options.

• Device Info Screen: The Device Info screen has been polished to match the new color scheme and design language. 🎨

Ordering & Menu Control

• Timed-Based Menu Categories: You can now assign specific Time Ranges to Menu Categories.

  • How it works: Categories will automatically appear or hide on the POS based on the current time (e.g., "Happy Hour" only shows from 4 PM - 6 PM). ⏰

• Doubles Command: A new "Doubles" feature makes ringing up bar drinks faster.

  • Allows users to quickly "Double" an item with a single command.

  • Note: This requires specific configuration within Menu Categories and the Menu Item settings. 🥃

Operational Awareness (Offline Mode)

We've added distinct visual cues so staff know exactly what is happening with the network connection. ⚠️

• Orange Flashing Bar: Indicates the device has lost network connection.

• Red Flashing Bar: Indicates the device is in Offline Payments Mode (if the venue is configured to allow offline payments).

Payments, Receipts & Gift Cards

• Partial Auth Configuration: Support added for disallowing partial authorizations when transacting card payments. (See the Partial Authorizations KB article for setup details). 💳

• Gift Card Balance:

  • Balance Chits now include a QR code for easy scanning.

  • The current balance is now displayed on-screen when incrementing or loading cards. 🎁

• Receipt Refinements:

  • Guest receipts will now indent item notes by 4 character spaces for better readability. 🧾

  • QR Codes: All QR codes on receipts have been slightly increased in size to ensure easier scanning.

🐛 Bug Fixes

We've squashed a significant number of bugs to improve stability, printing, and logic.

• Stability: Fixed a crash that could occur when splitting Seats if the underlying check had changed.

• Security: Fixed a loophole where jobs set for Time Clock Only would still allow a user to log in.

• Payment Devices: Fixed an issue on NX6 devices where the Background Sync Service might start multiple times when the payment device cycled.

• Printing:

  • Fixed an issue where printing a Combined Seat receipt would not display the Alternate Pricing total.

  • Fixed an ESC/POS printing issue where successive line feeds immediately preceding a Full Cut would be ignored.

  • Fixed an issue where Guest Receipts would repeat an item note for every item, even if the note belonged to only one.

• Tenders & Fees:

  • Fixed an issue where an amount prompt appeared for Manual Credit transactions, even if the Tender was configured not to prompt.

  • Fixed an issue where Prompt Amount tenders with a fee were not correctly including the fee amount.

  • Fixed an issue where Tenders on the Payment screen would not disable when presented with an overtender (if the tender did not allow it).

• UI/UX:

  • Fixed an issue where the Long Press & Context Menu on the Tab List would sometimes disappear.

  • Fixed an issue where Open Statuses would be removed as a filter option if there were no open orders.

  • Fixed an issue where Guest Receipts would print the Menu Item name instead of the desired name for "Prompt for Keyboard" items.

  • Fixed an issue where Auto-Logout (due to inactivity) was not clearing the last check from the internal check manager.

  • Fixed an issue where the on-screen keyboard would not display automatically for Name Check or Order Type prompts.

  • Fixed an issue where Gift Card types would sort inconsistently in Order Entry.

• Logic:

  • Fixed an erroneous delete prompt when using "Send Order" combined with the "On Back Action" of Delete Items.

  • Fixed an issue where CHECK.ITEMS_OPEN_PRICE claim was not being enforced.

🔮 Behind the Magic

• Payment Device Reset: Enhancements and sequence changes were made to the Reset Payment Device functions to ensure smoother handling when a transaction is cancelled.

• Updates: Updated dsiEMVAndroid to version 3.16.

• Future Tech: Initial UI work began for Project Raven. 🐦

• Data Models: Added originationSource to the CheckSeatPayment model.

• Cloud Logging Support: Support for enabling & disabling NX Cloud logging from the NX Portal via Venue or Device settings.
