Setting Up "Double" Commands for Menu Items

In the NX Restaurant POS, the Double command is a specialized modifier that allows you to quickly apply an up-charge to a drink or menu item based on a percentage. Whether you want to charge a flat percentage of the price or double the inventory quantity, this feature streamlines the process for your staff at the POS.

How "Doubles" Work in NX

When a server selects the Double command on the POS, the system calculates the price or quantity based on your specific configuration:

• Price-Based Calculation: The system rings a single quantity of the item but adds a modifier charge equal to the percentage you defined for the parent item’s price.

• Quantity-Based Calculation: The system rings the modifier with a quantity amount equal to the specified percentage (e.g., ringing a quantity of 2.0 for a 100% "Double").

1. Enabling Doubles on a Menu Item

To use this feature, you must first enable it on the individual menu item and define how the calculation should behave.

1. Navigate to Menus > Items and select your desired item (e.g., Casamigos).

2. Scroll down to the Pricing section.

3. Toggle the Doubles Pricing switch to On.

4. Calculation Type: 

   • Select Price to charge based on the dollar value.

   • Select Quantity to charge based on the item count/volume. This is your best choice for inventory tracking.

5. Doubles Multiplier: Enter the percentage for the up-charge (e.g., 100.00% to double the price).

   • Optional: You can also set specific Double Multipliers for different Price Points (like Happy Hour) within the same screen.

6. Click Save.

2. Activating the Double Command in Modifier Categories

Once the item is configured, you need to ensure the "Double" button actually appears on the POS for your staff. This is done at the Modifier Category level.

1. Navigate to Menus > Modifiers > Modifier Categories.

2. Select the category used for the item (e.g., Bar Instructions).

3. Click on the Menu Items tab.

4. Locate the Special Commands dropdown menu.

5. Select Double from the list.

6. Click Save.

3. Using Doubles on the POS

Once configured, the Double command will appear as a distinct action button within the modifier screen on your POS.

• When a staff member selects an item like "Casamigos" and opens the Bar Instructions, they will see the orange Double command.

• Tapping this button will automatically apply the pre-configured price or quantity adjustment to the order.
