Never Miss a Beat: NX Caller ID Integration 📞✨
Efficiency is the heart of a great takeout and delivery business. With our new Caller ID Integration, your staff can spend less time typing and more time talking to guests. By connecting a CallerID.com device to your NX system, incoming calls will automatically identify customers and streamline order entry!
How It Works: Effortless Order Entry 🎩
NX works seamlessly with your caller ID hardware to speed up your workflow. The best part? Core features like One-Touch Phone Entry are automatic once your hardware is connected!
1. One-Touch Phone Entry (Automatic!)
When you start a new order that has a "Phone Number" prompt, NX automatically looks for active incoming calls.
The Benefit: A list of phone numbers currently calling the restaurant will appear. Just touch the number on the screen to populate the field—no typing required!
Returning Customers: If the number matches a previous guest, NX automatically attaches their name, address, and profile to the order.
2. Live Call Prompts (Configurable)
You can choose to have specific POS devices show an "Incoming Call" pop-up. When a call rings, you’ll see three options:
Start Order: Jumps straight into a new check with the caller's info.
Hold Order: NX starts the order "behind the scenes," allowing you to finish your current task and recall the order later.
Ignore Call: Dismisses the prompt.
Pro Tip: If an incoming call matches a phone number on a currently open order, NX will even prompt you to automatically recall that specific check!
Setting Up Your Hardware 🛠️
NX supports the two industry standards from CallerID.com: Vertex and Whozz Calling. Choosing the right one depends on your phone system.
Which Box Do I Need?
| Feature | Vertex (VoIP) | Whozz Calling (Analog) |
|---|---|---|
| Connection Type | Voice over Internet Protocol | Standard Phone Line |
| Standard | RJ45 (8-pin Ethernet plug) | RJ11 (6-pin Phone plug) |
| Site Requirement | IP-based phones | Traditional analog phones |
Cabling and Installation 🔌
For Vertex (VoIP) Devices
Toward Gateway: Connect this port to your Internet Modem (NOT your NX router).
To Phones: Connect this to your phone system's non-NX network switch.
Management Port: Connect this into a LAN port on your NX router (e.g., Meraki). This is the only cable that connects to our network.

For Whozz Calling (Analog) Devices
To Gateway: Use a splitter to run a line from your Modem/Gateway to the L1/L2 ports.
To Phones: Run a cable from the box to your physical telephone handsets.
Management Port: Connect an Ethernet cable from this port to your NX network router.

Enabling Call Prompts in NX Portal ⚙️
While One-Touch entry is automatic, you must manually enable the pop-up prompts for the specific devices that handle your phones:
Navigate to Venue > POS Devices.
Select the specific Tablet or Station you want to receive call prompts.
Scroll down to the Caller ID section.
Toggle on "Prompt for incoming phone calls."
Click Save.
Site Requirements Checklist ✅
Ensure your phone provider has enabled the following for a successful setup:
[ ] Caller ID Service: The data must be sent by your provider.
[ ] Hunt/Rollover Service: This ensures that if Line 1 is busy, the call data rolls over to the next available line.
[ ] Hardware Installation: Cables should be run by a telephone professional if lines are not already at the POS station.
Need Help? 💡
Does this feature cost extra?
No! The software integration is completely free. You only need to purchase the physical hardware from CallerID.com.
The pop-up isn't showing up on my POS.
Double-check that you enabled the toggle in the NX Portal for that specific device. Also, ensure the device is in "POS Mode"—NX won't interrupt you if you are already inside an active order!
