NX Restaurant - Release 26.06
26.06.26
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the POS would slow down progressively over a long shift, requiring a manual app refresh to clear the lag. Devices now stay responsive across an entire service without staff needing to force-refresh.
- Fixed an issue where permission-gated actions (such as ringing on your own order) could be incorrectly denied for a few seconds immediately after login or a fast user switch, even when the employee held the permission.
- Fixed an issue where the "open on another device" indicator could remain stuck on a check after it was paid, voided, parked, or cleared β causing other terminals to continue seeing it as in-use.
- Fixed an issue where re-opening a check you already had open on another device would require confirmation before proceeding. It now shows a brief advisory notice and lets you continue β consistent with how checks open under another employee are handled.
- Fixed three related issues with On Hold status: the floor plan now correctly outlines tables with held items; a check returns to open as soon as its held items are fired; and moving the last held item off a check no longer leaves it stuck showing On Hold.
- Fixed an issue where a gratuity was not carried onto a newly added seat. New seats now inherit the check's existing gratuity and fees from any seat that already has them.
- Fixed an issue where the guest check would merge different price points of the same item into a single line when item consolidation is enabled β for example, printing "2 LG" when a Large and a Small were both ordered. Consolidation now groups by item name and price point, so different sizes print as separate lines. Kitchen and prep tickets are unaffected.
- Fixed an issue where service charge tax could land a penny off from the backend and the printed receipt. The device now rounds the combined tax once rather than rounding each line separately.
- Fixed an issue where the end-of-day close screen would show a false timeout on a slow close, skipping the completion confirmation even though the day closed successfully on the server. The day was always closed correctly β this only affected the on-screen confirmation.
26.06.21
π What's New
π Tab List β Closed Orders
The Closed Orders tab in the Tab List now actually shows closed orders. Selecting the tab loads that day's closed and abandoned orders on demand β tap any to see the full detail. The open orders view is unchanged and takes on no extra load.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where checks could get stuck failing to sync and never reach the cloud after a partial update that omitted fields required by the server.
- Fixed an issue where a single record with a malformed value (such as an unexpected decimal in a dollar amount, or a number where text was expected) would cause an entire batch of checks, payments, or items to silently disappear.
26.06.20
π What's New
π Open Check Locking
Opening a check that's already being worked on another station now shows a heads-up β so two servers don't unknowingly ring on the same table at the same time.
- If a different employee has the check open, you'll see an advisory notice showing their name and station. You can still proceed β NX continues to allow simultaneous check access by design.
- If it's your own login open on another device, you'll be asked whether you want to edit here too or cancel.
- Locks expire automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity, so nothing ever gets stuck if a device walks away, crashes, or goes offline. When your device is fully offline, the check opens normally with no prompt.
- More Info: Keeping Your Floor in Sync: Automated Order Locking Warnings
π³ VP3350 Stability Tuning
New configuration options are now available for fine-tuning VP3350 card reader timing on a per-device basis β without requiring an app update. These settings allow NX support to address communication errors on affected readers remotely. No changes to reader behavior until values are set from the backend.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the Tab List (column view) would constantly reload during busy service, causing the device to bog down and making starting a new check feel sluggish. Background sync updates with no real content change now coalesce into a single refresh, and a tab's full detail only reloads when its balance actually changes.
- Fixed an issue where the floor plan was loading full check detail β items, payments, seats, fees, and gratuities β for every open table on every refresh, even though the floor plan only displays the table owner and occupancy. The same lightweight loading has been applied to the check-select list, order list, and manager paid-in/paid-out views.
- Fixed an issue where repeated "409 Conflict" sync errors were being generated during service due to timecard records being pushed to the server on every order action. No change to what staff see β timecard totals remain accurate.
26.06.19
π What's New
π³ Tip Suggestions Based on Full Check Total
A new per-area option allows credit voucher tip suggestions to be calculated on the full check total rather than just the amount processed by that payment. Useful for split-payment scenarios where you want tip suggestions to reflect the full guest experience rather than a partial payment amount. Off by default β vouchers are unchanged until the option is enabled in area settings.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an intermittent issue where servers were prompted for a manager override on actions their job permits β such as moving items to a seat, transferring, splitting, or closing a zero-balance check β only to have the action succeed moments later if retried. Preset-granted permissions could drop silently during a background job sync or on shared stations during the brief window between logout and the next login completing.
- Fixed an issue where checks, seats, items, payments, fees, gratuities, and gift card transactions could be saved to the server missing their identity fields (venue, business date, parent check or seat links). Affected records were invisible to other devices and every subsequent update to them would fail β causing items or entire checks to appear to "disappear" across the system.
- Fixed an issue where a local-only check save (such as a guest count change, timed item recalculation, or payment void on a brand-new check) could cause the check's first upload to the server to be incomplete, leaving the server copy missing fields until a full resync.
26.06.17
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where order-type fees (such as a hospitality or service charge) were not being applied to new checks. The fee would appear briefly then vanish on reload, and checks carrying the fee server-side could not close. Regressed in 26.06.04.
- Fixed an issue where a closed check could be flipped back to open by an out-of-order sync update. A stale remote payload with a later timestamp could overwrite a locally-closed check with its earlier open snapshot.
- Fixed an issue where checks could appear to remain open after a tender cleared the balance, due to a concurrent sync emission arriving before the close was fully committed.
- Fixed an issue where ringing on your own check would incorrectly prompt for manager permission. A stale reference caused the system to treat the order owner as ringing on someone else's check on quick-ring starts or any moment the reference lagged.
- Fixed an issue where network printers would fail to connect before discovery completed. Ethernet printers (including MAC-only configurations) now connect reliably without requiring a fresh discovery cycle.
- Fixed an intermittent issue where menu items or other records would appear missing after launch. A manual app reload would sometimes make them reappear β the root cause was a restricted record silently aborting the rest of its fetch batch.
- Fixed an issue where tenders were incorrectly disabled after closing the cash drawer bank β including credit card tenders and venues that don't require a drawer for payment at all. The drawer state check now applies only to cash tenders at venues that require one.
- Fixed an issue where a seat could remain On Hold after its held items were fired on a multi-seat check, if another seat still had held items. The fired seat now releases from On Hold immediately.
- Fixed an issue where new check items could be created on the server missing key fields (name, menu item, quantity, etc.) when a burst of modifier edits was being processed at the same time as the initial save.
- Fixed an issue where the percentage keypad's Enter button was not available on the discount entry prompt.
- Fixed an inconsistent keypad button height β the currency keypad buttons are now the same height as all other keypads.
- Fixed a crash on the Order Confirmation Board when a check had no order type assigned.
- Fixed an issue where seats were being synced without a business date, which could cause them to be mishandled by the server's sync scope.
26.06.16
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where exempting a seat from tax was not applying to its fees and gratuities. Fees and gratuities added to a tax-exempt seat β including auto-gratuity, payment surcharges, and items added via split or transfer β now correctly inherit the exemption.
- Fixed an issue where a payment surcharge fee on a tax-exempt seat was still being taxed, resulting in the guest being undercharged by the stripped-out tax amount.
- Fixed an issue where the credit (dual-pricing) balance was calculated too low when a seat contained tax-exempt items.
26.06.15
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where POS Device Commands sent from NX Portal were not being triggered on the device.
26.06.14
π What's New
π Gift Card Transactions
Gift card transactions now sync as standalone records rather than embedded in the seat payload. This improves reliability at venues where gift card activity was occasionally lost during seat transfers or split/combine operations.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed a series of sync conflict errors that could occur during active ring sessions. In high-activity scenarios this could cause slowdowns or require a check refresh.
26.06.12
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where deeply nested modifiers were not correctly rolling their prices up to the top-level parent item, which could cause incorrect check totals. Introduced in 26.06.01.
- Fixed an issue where entering an incorrect access code would not clear the input field, requiring the employee to manually delete the failed entry before trying again.
26.06.11
π What's New
π³ KDS V3 Enhancements
- Multi-destination bump routing β a bump can now fire to multiple KDS destinations simultaneously. Configure the target destinations per routing destination in the back office to forward bumps to any number of stations in parallel.
- Seat grouping β tickets can now be grouped by seat on the KDS display, in addition to the existing None, Position, and Course options.
- Accountable employee β the employee accountable for a check can now be shown on KDS tickets separately from the employee who rang the item. Useful for venues where servers hand off ringing to runners or expo staff.
- The KDS action rail now deduplicates repeated buttons and is horizontally scrollable for stations with many configured actions.
β‘ Faster Startup on Non-POS Devices
KDS units, kiosks, and customer-facing display tablets now load only the data relevant to their device mode on startup. Previously all devices loaded the full entity set regardless of what they needed. This reduces startup time and memory usage noticeably on dedicated display hardware.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed simulated credit card processing not working in Demo Mode.
26.06.06
π What's New
πΊ Order Status Board
A new dedicated device mode turns any NX-connected screen into a live Order Status Board β showing guests exactly where their order stands without requiring staff to field "is my order ready?" questions.
Two display layouts are available. Grouped by Status (the default) shows a two-column view with Preparing on the left and Ready for Pickup on the right. Grouped by Order Type shows a multi-column view of Ready orders organized by order type β ideal for venues with distinct pickup lanes or windows.
- Orders move from Preparing to Ready automatically when staff taps Notify or the kitchen bumps the order from the KDS β even at venues without SMS templates configured or for customers without a phone number on file.
- Ready orders disappear from the board automatically after a configurable timeout β no manual removal needed.
- The board displays a warning icon when the device loses network connectivity.
- Font sizes are designed to be legible from 20+ feet β large order numbers, customer names, and status badges that read clearly across a lobby or waiting area.
- Background color or image, header colors, column accent colors, and card appearance are all configurable per board from the back office.
- More Info: Real-Time Visibility: The Order Status Board
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the Order Status Board would display "Loading board configurationβ¦" indefinitely on first launch and never advance to showing orders.
- Fixed an issue in the Order Type layout where columns would render at 1px wide, making the board unusable. Columns now distribute proportionally across the full screen width.
- Fixed an issue where fees and gratuities were missing venue context after a transfer, which could cause sync errors.
- Fixed an issue where the source check could show stale totals after seats were moved to a destination check.
26.06.05
π What's New
βοΈ Split & Recombine Items
Splitting items is now more flexible, and you can now undo a split entirely.
- When multiple items are selected, you'll be prompted to choose between Split Items or Recombine before the action is taken.
- The Recombine command merges split items back into one. Selected items must share the same menu item, price point, prep modifier, and modifiers β quantities are summed into a single item.
- Single-item selections still split directly without a prompt, same as before.
πͺ Improved Seat Picker
The seat selection dialogs for Move to Seat and Split Order have been redesigned. Instead of a tile grid, seats are now displayed as a scrollable list showing each seat's full display name β making it much easier to find the right seat on large or complex checks. Selected seats are highlighted for clarity.
π³ Pre-Auth Auto-Close
When finalizing a pre-authorization, if the remaining balance reaches $0 after finalization the check now closes automatically. Previously the check would remain open in an In Progress state after a successful finalize.
ποΈ Fee, Gift Card & Gratuity Screen Improvements
- The Add action has moved from a standalone button at the bottom of the screen to an inline + icon in the column header β keeping the action close to the list.
- All three lists are now scrollable, so long lists no longer get cut off.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed a crash that caused newly created seats to disappear from the UI after using Move to Seat or Split Order.
- Fixed fees and gratuities being silently dropped when transferring an order to an existing check or performing a split-combine. Fees and gratuities now travel with the order correctly.
26.06.04
π What's New
β©οΈ Recombine Item
The new Recombine command reverses a split, merging selected items back into one. Items must share the same menu item, price point, prep modifier, and modifiers β quantities are summed and the duplicate items are removed.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where transferring an order to an existing check would briefly show the transferred items on the destination, then revert them back to the source check. (Ticket 2479)
- Fixed the fee amount prompt not always showing both Amount and Percent entry options.
- Fixed the percentage input showing an Enter button when it should not.
26.06.03
π What's New
βοΈ Select All / None in Check Info
A Select All / None toggle has been added to the Check Info menu in Order Entry. It's also triggered automatically when tapping in the Check Info footer, making seat and item selection faster on complex checks.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where check totals could be incorrect at payment time due to a stale modifier subtotal after a database reload or concurrent save. Totals now calculate directly from each item's own subtotal, eliminating the discrepancy.
- Fixed an issue where repeating an item with modifiers would cause those modifiers to incorrectly inherit the parent item's price point.
- Fixed an issue where changing an item's quantity before completing required modifier selections would prematurely close the modifier panel.
- Fixed the version name spilling onto a second line on the NX6 login screen.
26.06.02
π What's New
π³ PAX A3x Tip Prompt
The PAX A3x tip prompt now displays both the suggested tip amount in dollars and the percentage. Previously only the percentage was shown. Guests can now see exactly what each suggestion costs before choosing. More Info: Customizing Your Guest Flow: Setting Up Tip Suggestions
26.06.01
π What's New
β±οΈ Auto-Fire Items
Items can now be placed on hold and automatically fired to the kitchen at a time you choose β perfect for pacing multi-course meals without relying on staff to remember. More Info: Timing It Perfectly: Using the Auto-Fire Feature
πΈ Refunds
The refund experience has been redesigned and simplified for NX6. Processing a refund is now faster and more intuitive with improved screens throughout the flow.
π§Ύ Smart Tax Support
Smart Tax is now evaluated in real time as items are added or removed from a check β no need to save or close the check to get accurate tax calculations when the order changes. More Info: Dynamic Financial Settings: Understanding Smart Tax
π Modifier Auto-Ring Improvements
- Menu items configured to auto-ring modifiers will pre-select specific items in a modifier category automatically on entry.
- Single-item modifier categories (min 1, max 1) also auto-ring without requiring explicit configuration β they just work.
- All auto-ringed modifiers are saved together in a single operation. If all required modifiers are satisfied, the check saves automatically without extra taps.
- More Info: Speed Up Order Entry: Using Auto-Selected Modifier Items
π¨οΈ Long-Press to Select Printer
Long-press the print button in the check header to choose any configured printer for a one-off print job, regardless of the device default. For multi-seat checks, seat selection follows after you pick the printer.
β Ad-Hoc Modifier Support
Modifier categories can now include ad-hoc item lists defined directly on a menu item, without needing a full venue menu category behind them. Ad-hoc modifiers support the full modifier experience β min/max enforcement, auto-ring, swap behavior, and pricing overrides. More Info: Menu Engineering: Item Modifiers vs. Category Modifiers
