NX Restaurant - Release 26.07.07
26.07.07
π What's New
π€ Customer Command on Check Footer
A Customer button can now be placed directly on the check footer. Tapping it opens customer search when no customer is attached, or shows the attached customer's info when one already is β the same action as the check context menu, now one tap from the footer.
π Customer Search Defaults to Phone Keypad
Customer lookup now opens the numeric keypad by default, since most lookups are by phone number. A one-tap toggle switches to the full keyboard for name searches. Search still matches both name and phone regardless of which keyboard is active.
π¨ Room Charges via Cloud Hotel PMS
The Room Charge tender can now post to a hotel property-management system over Comtrol's cloud Lodging Link transport, in addition to a direct on-site connection. A folio lookup or charge briefly shows a "contacting property" indicator while resolving. Room Charge is unavailable while the PMS link is offline. If a charge is confirmed by the property after the terminal has stopped waiting, a notification is raised for a manager to reconcile β a late-confirmed charge is never applied to the check automatically.
π§Ύ Cleaner Page-Mode Receipts
Receipts and vouchers now print in Epson page mode, giving a more modern look: true hairline rules replace dashed lines, with consistent margins throughout. Automatic on Epson receipt printers that support page mode β all other printers and kitchen chits are unchanged.
π½οΈ Kitchen Tickets Can Group by Seat
Remote and kitchen chits can now group items by seat, in addition to the existing group-by-position and group-by-course options. On single-seat orders, items aren't grouped.
π§ͺ Demo Mode Print Header
Kitchen tickets and receipts generated on a demo mode device now print a "DEMO MODE" header at the top and bottom, so demo orders are never mistaken for live ones.
π Fingerprint Manager Override Approval
When a manager override is required, a manager can now approve it by scanning their fingerprint β in addition to entering an access code or swiping a card. All three methods are available simultaneously on the override screen. Fingerprint authentication also satisfies jobs configured to require card or NFC sign-in.
π Require Card or NFC Sign-In Per Job
A job can now be configured to require hardware authentication. While an employee is clocked into a job with this option enabled, the numeric access code is not accepted for signing in or approving a manager override β they must use an access card, NFC tap, or fingerprint. The restriction follows the clocked-in job, so an employee with two jobs is only restricted while on the clock for the one that has it enabled.
β° Require Manager Approval to Clock In or Out
A job can now be configured to require manager approval for clocking in and/or out. When enabled, the clock action shows a "Manager Approval Required" notice with an Override option β a manager with the Time Card Approval permission enters their credentials before the clock action proceeds.
π Reorder from a Customer's Past Order
The customer review screen now has a Reorder button that opens the customer's previous order with a checkbox next to each item and modifier. Pick what to repeat β unchecking an item clears its modifiers β and the selection is re-rung onto the current order at live menu prices. Items no longer on the menu are skipped with a notice.
π¬ Conversational Ordering
When enabled for an area, staff can ring an item before selecting its required modifiers. The item appears on the check as a tappable "Chooseβ¦" placeholder that reopens the modifier flow when tapped. Incomplete items can be parked and the check saved, but Fire, Send, and Pay stay blocked until all required modifiers are completed. Off by default; reordering a past order always allows it.
π Reports Now Run Natively on the POS
Running a report now opens a native options screen with date range and report-specific filters (tables, revenue centers, order types, employees, and more), then renders the finished report as native tables on-screen. Replaces the embedded web view that frequently failed to display. Reports still build on the backend β the POS submits the request, shows a spinner, and displays the result, including a Nexy AI summary when available. Email and text delivery still work.
π Block Shift Report While Checks Are Open or Tips Unadjusted
A job can now be configured to prevent the employee from running their Shift Report while they still have open checks or payments with unadjusted tips. When enabled, tapping Shift Report shows a notice until those are resolved. Off by default.
π "Online Order" Now Appears as an Employee in Reports and Check Filters
Orders placed online are now attributed to a built-in "Online Order" employee. This employee appears in the Shift Report employee picker and the check list's Employee filter, making it easy to run reports or filter the order list to online orders only.
π¨ Employee Messages
Employees can now receive messages composed and sent from the portal, delivered directly to the POS. Messages flagged as requiring acknowledgement block the POS with a non-dismissable prompt the moment the employee logs in or clocks in β fully offline β and stay up until read and acknowledged. Other unread messages show a brief prompt on login with Continue or Read options. All messages are available any time from the new Messages item in the utility menu, which flags unread messages with a badge. Messages support basic text formatting, are private to each employee on a shared device, and can be printed to the receipt printer.
π Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Paid In and Paid Out records were no longer being synced to the cloud, causing them to be missing from cloud reporting and not visible on other devices. They now sync reliably and appear again in Manager Menu lists.
- Fixed an issue where voiding a payment could be silently undone by a delayed background save from the same device, re-closing the check with the voided payment still counted β causing end-of-day accountability variances.
- Fixed an issue where a removed or voided item could leave its paid modifiers active, continuing to charge for them (for example, a $2.00 overcharge from two add-ons after the parent item was removed). Removing or voiding an item now clears its add-ons, and the total ignores any add-on whose parent was removed β including on checks already affected.
- Fixed an issue where discounts from the Discount command applied no value in some cases (most visibly a percent discount spread across the check subtotal, and fixed-dollar discounts). The command path now applies the same amount as the discount tile.
- Fixed an issue where discount item filters were not being enforced β a discount restricted to certain items was applying to every item on the check regardless of the filter. It now applies only to matching items for all selection rules except Subtotal discounts, which intentionally spread across the whole check.
- Fixed an issue where a discount applied by one station could be silently wiped if a second station updated the same check item moments later. Device-to-device updates now merge field-by-field, preserving local changes not yet confirmed by the server.
- Fixed an issue where report filters (customer, table, revenue center, order type, tender type, labor group, and others) were not being sent with the request β reports were running unfiltered regardless of what was selected. Reports that filter by customer now use a searchable picker instead of an unusable full customer list.
- Fixed an issue where Paid In and Paid Out amounts of $1,000 or more would wrap onto a second line in manager lists.
- Fixed an issue where payments were attributing sales and tips to whatever timecard was logged into the terminal rather than the timecard of the employee who actually took the payment. Applies to venues that credit sales to the person who takes payment.
- Fixed an issue where a check could be stored with a stale (sometimes $0) total after a quick edit such as a gift card load, which could cause the order to be swept as empty at End of Day.
- Fixed an issue where a closed order's kitchen ticket could reprint to the line approximately two hours later when the device that rang it reconnected after a brief disconnection, even though the order was already closed and paid.
- Fixed an issue where creating a new customer during an order didn't automatically attach them to that order. The new customer is now attached on save.
- Fixed an issue where the app could crash repeatedly during a background sync if the device's local database became corrupted. The app now automatically wipes the damaged database and restarts, rebuilding from the cloud. No data is lost from the backend.
- Fixed an issue where End of Day could be triggered twice by a rapid double-tap or a second attempt while already in progress. End of Day now asks for confirmation first and guards against duplicate runs.
- Fixed an issue where correcting a timecard's clock-in or clock-out date in Manager Menu was blocking same-day and earlier dates from being selected β preventing correction of timecards auto-clocked-out at Close Day.
- Fixed an issue where the Timecard clock-in/out date picker was blocking same-day and earlier dates.
- Fixed an issue where opening the Paid Out entry dialog from Manager Menu could crash the app.
- Fixed an issue where checks could get stuck syncing after a paid-out or when ringing while not clocked in, stalling that check's sync across every device.
- Fixed an issue where prep modifier highlights were not appearing on the kitchen display for POS-rung orders. Items with prep modifiers (No, Extra, etc.) now carry the correct highlight color to the kitchen display.
- Fixed an issue where price point names (such as Small / Large) were not appearing on the V2 kitchen display even when configured to show. Both kitchen displays now read the price point from the kitchen ticket and show the configured kitchen name.
- Fixed an issue where the guest payment review screen showed no card instruction when the reader was pre-armed. It now displays "Insert, tap or swipe your card" while waiting.
- Fixed an issue where splitting an item with required modifiers across checks or seats showed a false "modifier required" placeholder on each split share.
- Fixed an issue where the table on-hold indicator did not clear after auto-fire sent a held order's items to the kitchen.
- Fixed an issue where using Adjust Price to change an item's price point left modifiers that inherited that price point on the old one. Inherited-price-point modifiers now follow the item to the new price point.
- Fixed an issue where auto-ring items whose modifiers were all auto-selected were firing to the kitchen immediately upon being rung in areas set to send on save.
- Fixed an issue where a category set to show a non-default number of tile rows would revert to 5 rows after modifying an item and returning to it.
- Fixed an issue where tapping Done on an optional modifier group with a maximum under auto-progress would leave the employee stuck on that screen. Done now completes the item once all required groups are satisfied.
- Fixed an issue where the rear guest display was showing the "Sign in as a Rewards Member" button even when loyalty was turned off in the portal's Guest Display settings.
- Fixed an issue where the report back button returned to a blank screen instead of the report list, and where several report option pickers (Void Reasons, Loyalty Plans, Routing Destinations, Tables, Tender Types, and others) came up empty.
- Fixed an issue where a "Drawer not configured" error message appeared (sometimes twice) when applying a cash tender on a device with no configured cash drawer. The payment always completed β only the message was spurious. It now appears only when manually opening the drawer via No Sale / Open Drawer.
- Fixed an issue where the KDS V3 LogicControls bump bar did nothing unless the station had an explicit keypad configured. It now works out of the box.
- Fixed an issue where on-demand and on-bump kitchen tickets used the originating display's format instead of the destination printer's own format. Also fixes a crash when that destination's format included the routing-group name.
- Fixed several QSR Automations issues: firing held items now reaches the kitchen as a new course instead of being ignored as a duplicate; canceling an order now notifies the kitchen and releases the table; merging tables no longer sends an unnecessary update for the merged-from check; and an item note now prints as its own line under the item instead of being appended to the item name.
- Fixed an issue where icons on the guest-facing displays were being re-decoded on every screen refresh, causing flicker and unnecessary CPU use during frequent updates.
