Personalizing the Check: Renaming Orders and Seats 🏷️💺
Organization is the key to a great service! NX Restaurant allows you to quickly add custom names to both the entire order and individual seats. This is perfect for keeping track of large groups, identifying specific guests (like "Blue Shirt"), or managing busy takeout windows.
How to Change the Order Name 📋
The order name typically defaults to the table number or a system-generated ID. To change it to a guest's name:
Tap the Order Header: Inside the virtual check, tap the large Table Number or Order ID located at the very top left.
Enter Name: The "Change order name" window will appear.
Confirm: Type the new name and tap Continue.
How to Change a Seat Name 🪑
If you need to get more specific—like labeling a seat so the runner knows exactly who gets the Westy Classic—you can rename individual seats:
Locate the Seat Label: Directly below the main order header, you will see the seat indicator (e.g., "49-1").
Tap the Seat Name: Tap on the seat name text (e.g., "Seat 1" or the existing label).
Enter Seat Name: The "Change Seat name" window will pop up.
Confirm: Type a descriptive label (like "Blue Shirt" or "Birthday Girl") and tap Continue.
Why Use Custom Names? 🌟
Accuracy for Runners: Your food runners won't have to auction off plates; they’ll know exactly which seat belongs to the "Blue Shirt."
Split Check Ease: When it comes time to split the bill, having named seats makes the process much faster and less confusing for the server.
Enhanced Guest Experience: Guests feel more "seen" when their name or a helpful identifier appears on their printed guest check.
Need Help? 💡
The names aren't appearing on my printed kitchen chits.
Check your Printing settings in the Back Office. Ensure that "Print Seat Names" and "Print Order Name" are enabled for your kitchen and expo printers.
Can I rename a seat after I've sent the items?
Yes! You can rename a seat at any point while the order is open. Just remember to hit Send after making the change to update the KDS or print a new ticket if necessary.
I tapped the header but nothing happened.
Verify your permissions! Renaming orders and seats requires the "Edit Order Info" permission. If you're a manager, you can toggle this on for specific Job Codes under Labor > Job Groups.
