Welcome to the NX Restaurant family! We know that learning a new system can feel like a lot to take in. Thatβs why we created Training Modeβa safe, "sandbox" environment where you and your team can practice ringing up orders, exploring the menu, and navigating the interface without any risk to your real-world business data. π
Why Use Training Mode? π€
Training Mode is the perfect tool for:
Onboarding new staff without messing up your daily sales reports.
Testing new menu items or complex modifications.
Building confidence with the POS interface before the dinner rush starts!
π‘ Tip: While in Training Mode, your real orders are hidden and protected. You can practice freely knowing that no actual credit cards will be charged and your cash drawer will stay securely locked.
How to Enable Training Mode π οΈ
Ready to practice? Follow these simple steps to get started:
Navigate to the Manager Menu on your NX App.
Locate the Ops section and tap on the Training Mode tile.
A confirmation pop-up will appear asking if you are sure you want to enter training mode. Tap Confirm.
The app will automatically log you out. When you log back in, you are officially in "Practice Mode!"
How Do I Know I'm in Training Mode? π
It is very important to know when you are in a practice session versus taking real orders. Look for these three key indicators:
Orange Header: The top bar of the app will turn bright orange.
Corner Label: The text "Training Mode" will appear in the lower-left corner of the login screen.
Receipts & KDS: All printed receipts, kitchen prep chits, and KDS (Kitchen Display System) tickets will clearly display "TRAINING ORDER" or "TRAINING MODE" at the top and bottom.
Important Safety Features π‘οΈ
To keep your business records and finances accurate, the following restrictions apply while Training Mode is active:
No Real Orders: You cannot see or edit actual customer orders while in this mode.
No Payments: Credit cards will not be processed, and the cash drawer will not pop open. π³π«
Safe Reporting: Training transactions are kept separate and will not inflate your actual Net Sales or Labor metrics.

I can't find the Training Mode tile!
Ensure you are logged in with Manager permissions. If you still don't see it, check with your system administrator to ensure the feature is enabled for your role.
How do I get back to real orders?
Simply go back to the Manager Menu and toggle Training Mode off. The header will return to its standard color, and you'll be back in "Live" mode!
