Managing the "End of Day" Process
Closing out a shift shouldn’t feel like a second job. The End of Day (EOD) screen in the NX Restaurant POS is your central command center for finishing the business day. It consolidates sales data, labor tracking, and financial reconciliation into one easy-to-read dashboard, ensuring you never miss a step before locking the doors.
Why Use the End of Day Screen?
Instead of jumping between different reports and menus, the End of Day screen flags exactly what needs your attention. Use this tool to:
Prevent Data Loss: Ensure all orders are closed so sales are recorded accurately.
Audit Labor: Quickly see who is still on the clock to avoid unnecessary overtime.
Reconcile Cash: Verify deposits and ensure all tips are accounted for.
Peace of Mind: Confirm that your system is ready for the automated "End of Day" process (scheduled for 10:00 PM in the example above).
How to Access End of Day
Log into the NX Restaurant POS app with your Manager PIN.
Open the Manager Menu (typically found in the top-right navigation).
Select End of Day.
Understanding the Dashboard
The screen is divided into two main sections: Shift Summaries (Left) and Action Items (Right).
1. Shift Summary & Sales Categories
On the left, you get a real-time snapshot of the day’s performance:
Business Date: Confirms which day you are currently closing.
Sales Totals: A breakdown of net sales by category (Food, Wine, NA Beverage, etc.).
Order Stats: Shows the total number of orders and the average check size.
2. Action Items (The Checklist)
The right side of the screen highlights "blockers" that might prevent a clean close. Each section can be expanded for more detail:
Open Orders: If there are unpaid checks, you can select Pay all to cash.
Missing Tips: Ensures all credit card tips have been entered. If this shows "No missing tips," you’re good to go!
Employees on Clock: Displays how many staff members are still signed in. Use Clock out all employees to force a clock-out for anyone who forgot to swipe out.
Deposits: Track the physical cash being deposited for the day. Tap New Deposit to record your final drop.
Pro Tip: Keep an eye on the Refresh button at the bottom. If you just closed an order on another terminal, hit Refresh to update the End of Day totals instantly.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I don't manually close everything?
While the system is set to run an automated EOD (e.g., at 10:00 PM), leaving open orders or un-clocked-out employees can lead to messy reporting and payroll discrepancies. We recommend a manual review every night.
Can I print this summary?
Yes! Tap the Print button in the bottom left corner to generate a hard copy of the Shift Summary for your daily logbook.
