π How to Release an NX POS Device Subscription
Releasing an NX POS Device Subscription allows you to free up that subscription so it can be assigned to a different device. This is commonly done when:
- Replacing hardware
- Repurposing a station
- Moving a subscription between devices
- Resetting a device for troubleshooting
This guide walks you through how to release a subscription directly from the NX POS App.
π² Step 1 β Open the Device Info Panel
On the NX POS login screen:
- Tap the Cloud icon βοΈ in the top-right corner.
- Tap Device Info.
βοΈ Step 2 β Open the Manage Subscription Menu
From the Device Info screen:
- Tap Manage Subscription.
This opens the NX POS Device Subscriptions window.
ποΈ Step 3 β View the Currently Claimed Subscription
You will now see:
- The subscription currently assigned to this device
- A Release button at the bottom
π Step 4 β Release the Subscription
To free this subscription:
- Tap the Release button π΄.
- A confirmation may appear depending on build version.
- After releasing, the device will no longer hold a POS Subscription.
π¨ Important:
After release, the device cannot operate as a licensed POS until a new subscription is assigned.
π What Happens After Releasing?
- The device will temporarily fall back into POS Demo Mode (POS No Subscription).
- You can immediately reassign a subscription using the Assign Subscription workflow.
- The released subscription becomes available to any other device in your venue.
π Additional Notes
- Releasing a subscription does not delete it β it simply unlinks it from the current device.
- Devices cannot share the same subscription.
- You must have appropriate permission levels to release subscriptions.
