πͺ Perfecting Your Service: A Guide to Service Prompts
In the fast-paced world of hospitality, small details make a big difference! Service Prompts in NX Restaurant act as a helpful "digital assistant" for your staff. Whether itβs reminding a server to suggest a drink or ensuring an ID is checked for alcohol, these prompts help maintain service standards and compliance without skipping a beat. π₯
π What are Service Prompts?
Service Prompts are customizable pop-up messages that appear on the POS during the final stages of an order (like when hitting Save or Pay). They ensure that specific requirements are met before the order is finalized.
There are two main types:
Beverage Requirements: Automatically tracks if enough drinks were ordered based on the food items selected.
Custom Prompts: Manual reminders for things like "Did you read the order back?" or "Is the guest 21+?".
π₯€ Setting Up Beverage Requirements
This feature is great for ensuring every table has a round of drinks! To make this work, you need to tell the system which items need a drink and which items count as a drink.
Step 1: Configure Your Menu Items
Navigate to Menus > Items in the NX Portal.
For Food (The "Requirement"): Select a food item (e.g., a Burger). Scroll to Beverage Requirements and enter a value in Beverages Required (usually
1).For Drinks (The "Satisfaction"): Select your drink items (e.g., a Soda). In the same section, enter a value in Beverages Satisfied (usually
1).
Step 2: Create the Prompt
Go to Ordering > Service Prompts.
Click + New Service Prompt and select Beverage Requirement as the type.
Choose your Enforcement level:
Warn Employee: Shows a message but allows them to continue.
Require Fulfillment: Blocks the sale until the beverage count is met.
Customize the Title and Message (e.g., "Please ring some drinks!").
π οΈ Creating Custom Prompts
Custom prompts are versatile tools for compliance or service quality.
Create a new prompt and select Custom Prompt.
Trigger Menu Item Filter: Use this if you only want the prompt to appear for certain items.
Example: Select a "Beer" filter so a "Check ID" prompt only pops up when alcohol is ordered.
Required Menu Item Filter (The "Suppressor"): Use this to hide a prompt if a certain item is already there.
π· Assigning Prompts to Jobs
Service Prompts won't appear unless they are assigned to the specific Job the employee is clocked into.
Navigate to Labor > Jobs.
Select a Job (e.g., "Server" or "Order Taker").
Click the POS Options tab.
Under Service Prompts, check the boxes for the prompts you want this job to see.
Click Save. β¨
π₯οΈ What it Looks Like on the POS
When a server hits Pay or Send, the prompt will appear in the center of the screen.
Beverage Prompt: "2 beverages are required on this order. 1 has been rang. Please ring some drinks."
Custom Prompt: "Did you read back the order to the guest?"
