💰 Setting Up Buy & Get (BOGO) Discounts in NX Restaurant

Buy One, Get One (BOGO) discounts are a fantastic way to drive sales and move inventory. Whether it's a classic "Buy One, Get One Free" or a "Buy a Burger, Get a Shake for 50% Off," NX POS makes it easy to configure these conditional promotions.

Unlike simple percentage or dollar-off discounts, BOGO deals require a bit more logic: the system needs to know what the customer must buy to unlock the deal, and what item actually gets the discount. 🍔➕🥤

Step 1: Basic Configuration

To start, you will configure the general settings for the discount.

1. Navigate to Portal > Configuration > Ordering > Discounts.

2. Click + New Discount (or edit an existing one).

3. Name & Display Name: Enter a name for reporting (e.g., "Buy 1 soda, get 1 soda") and a name for the receipt (e.g., "Soda Buy & Get").

4. Computation Method: Under the "Type" selector, choose Bogo and a new settings tab for BOGO will appear. 

5. BOGO Type: Select how the "Get" item should be discounted:

   • Percent: Percentage off the second item (e.g., 100% for free, 50% for half-off).

   • Dollar: A flat dollar amount off the second item.

6. BOGO Value: Enter the specific percentage or dollar amount (e.g., 100.00% for a free item).

Step 2: Defining the "Buy" Requirements

Next, you need to tell the system what the customer must purchase to qualify for the deal. This is done in the Buy these items... section.

1. Click on the BOGO Settings tab (if not already visible).

2. Locate the "Buy these items..." section.

3. Item Filter / Menu Items: Select the category or specific items the customer must purchase. For example, select the "Soda" item filter.

4. Quantity to buy: Enter the number of items required. For a standard BOGO, this would be 1.

Step 3: Defining the "Get" Items

Finally, define which item receives the discount. This is done in the Get these items... section.

1. Scroll down to "Get these items...".

2. Item Filter / Menu Items: Select the eligible items that can be discounted. You can choose the same group as the "Buy" section (e.g., "Soda") or a different one (e.g., "Lemonade").

3. Quantity to get: Enter the number of items that will receive the discount (e.g., 1).

4. Click Save.
