π€ Discount Computation Types in NX POS
When configuring a new Discount in NX POS, the Computation Method determines how the system calculates the deduction. NX supports three distinct types of computation: Dollar, Percent, and BOGO (Buy One, Get One).
Choosing the right computation type ensures your promotions behave exactly as intended at the point of sale. π
Dollar π΅
The Dollar computation type applies a fixed flat-amount reduction to the order or item.
Best for: "$5 Off Your Order" coupons or "$2 Off Draft Beer" happy hour specials.
Configuration: You simply enter the dollar amount you wish to deduct.
Percent %
The Percent computation type applies a percentage-based reduction to the order or specific items.
Best for: "15% Employee Discount" or "50% Off Appetizers."
Configuration: Enter the percentage value (e.g.,
50.00%). The system will automatically calculate the monetary value based on the price of the eligible items.
BOGO (Buy One, Get One) π
The BOGO computation type is used for conditional promotions where the customer must purchase a specific item to receive a deal on another.
Best for: "Buy a Burger, Get a Shake for Free" or "Buy Two EntrΓ©es, Get $10 Off Dessert."
Configuration: BOGO requires two distinct sets of filters:
Requirement Menu Filters: These are the items the customer must buy to qualify for the deal (the "Buy One" part).
Application Item Menu Filters: These are the items to which the discount is actually applied (the "Get One" part).
Note: The system will only allow the BOGO discount to be applied if items matching the Requirement Menu Filters are present on the order.
