Guest Receipt Format Settings

In the NX Restaurant Portal, you can configure how guest receipts print using the Settings tab under

Configuration > Printing > Formats.

The Settings tab contains detailed options for controlling how information prints at the top, in the body, and at the bottom of guest receipts, as well as how modifiers, discounts, loyalty, and tip lines are displayed.

Receipt Settings – Top

Options for how order information prints at the top of the guest receipt.

Large Order Number – Prints the order number in a large, bold font for easy visibility.
Large Order Type – Prints the order type (e.g., Dine In, Takeout, Delivery) in large text next to the order number.
Large Order Source – Displays the source of the order, such as POS, Online Ordering, or Kiosk.
Venue Details – When enabled, prints the venue’s name, address, and phone number at the top of the receipt.

Receipt Settings – Body

Controls how information is printed within the body of the guest receipt.

Seat Detail Settings

Print Seat Name – Prints the seat name (e.g., “Bob”) next to each item group. This is usually a customer or manually entered name and can be used in conjunction with the seat number.
Print Seat Number – Prints the numerical seat number assigned to the order.
Seat Number Prefix – Allows entry of a custom prefix (e.g., “Share #”) that prints before the seat number.
Print Seat Subtotal – Displays a subtotal for each seat section before the overall total.

Items & Modifiers

Controls how menu items and their modifiers appear on the receipt.

Print Single Quantity – Prints the number “1” before items with a single quantity.
Print $0 Menu Items – When on, prints menu items that have a $0 price. The menu item must also have “Print on Guest Check” enabled.
Print $0 Modifiers – When on, prints modifiers that have no price. The modifier must also have “Print on Guest Check” enabled.
Print Charge Modifiers – When on, prints modifiers that have an associated charge. The modifier must also have “Print on Guest Check” enabled.
Roll Mod Price into Parent – Includes modifier prices within the parent item total rather than printing them separately.
Print Item Discount Detail – When on, displays discounts applied to each individual item.
Modifier Style – Controls how modifiers print on the receipt:
- List – Each modifier prints on its own line under the parent item in a list.
- Wrapped – Modifiers wrap inline after the parent item.
- None – Modifiers do not print.

Receipt Settings – Bottom

Defines how the details below the body print on guest receipts.

Discount Detail – Choose whether to print detailed discounts or totals only.
Tax Detail – Choose whether to print itemized taxes or totals only.
Payment Detail – Choose whether to show individual payment entries or totals only.

Loyalty & Customer Options

Controls how customer and loyalty information prints on receipts.

Loyalty Detail – Selects what loyalty information appears (e.g., “Plan with points”).
Loyalty Prompt Line Text – Custom text inviting guests to join or use loyalty programs (e.g., “Rewards member, or want to be?”).
Loyalty Phone Line Text – Defines the label for the phone number line (e.g., “Phone number”).
Customer Detail – Determines which customer details print (e.g., name and phone number).

Property Management

For venues that support room charge functionality (such as hotels).

Room Charge Detail – Defines how room charge information prints, such as Room number last name.

QR Codes

QR Code Settings

QR Code 1 / QR Code 2 – Choose up to two QR codes to display. Each has an option to select.

Tip Line

Controls how tip lines appear on printed receipts or vouchers.

Tip Line Display – Determines when the primary tip line prints (e.g., None, Always, When no automatic gratuity, or Based on payment amount).
Tip Line Text – Custom text for the tip line label (e.g., “+ Tip:”).
Tip Line 2 Display – Controls whether a secondary tip line appears (useful for multi-payment checks).
Tip Line 2 Payment > Amount – Sets a minimum payment threshold required for the second tip line to display.

Charity Line

Adds a customizable charity prompt to the receipt.

Charity Line Text – Text entered here prints as a donation prompt, such as “+ Round up for charity”.
