Guest Receipt Format Sections
In the NX Restaurant Portal, you can configure Printing Formats to control the layout and content of guest receipts and remote tickets. Within the Guest Receipt section, you can choose which sections of data appear and in what order they print using the Receipt Section Pick List.
Each section can be turned on or off and arranged in the desired sequence by using the arrows to the right of the pick list. Formatting for these sections (such as alignment, font size, and spacing) is managed separately on the Formats tab.
Available sections that can be included on a guest receipt, listed alphabetically:
Alternate Pricing Total
Used when showing a secondary total when using payments that invoke a surcharge or fee.
Balance Due
Shows any remaining balance that is still owed.
Charity Line
Displays a suggested donation or charitable contribution line, if configured.
Check Detail
Shows check information including the check number, server, order type (e.g., dine-in, takeout), and date/time. Specific details to print can be controlled under Header Items in the Format Settings.
Customer Detail
Shows guest information captured at the POS or through online ordering, such as name or phone number. In the Format Settings under Settings you can control how much customer detail is displayed.
Delivery Address
Displays the delivery address for delivery orders.
Discounts
Shows any discounts or promotions applied to items or the entire check. Note: Under the Settings tab you can control if menu items print with their discount details.
EMV Detail
Prints EMV (chip card) transaction details such as AID, TVR, and transaction status for compliance and audit purposes.
Fees
Lists additional fees, such as delivery, service, or convenience charges that are added to the order.
Footer Text
Custom text entered by the venue, such as thank-you messages or promotional content, displayed at the bottom of the receipt. This can be defined on the Format or the Area.
Gift Cards Sold Total
Displays the total value of any gift cards sold during the transaction as they are not menu items but effect the transaction totals.
Gratuities
Displays auto-gratuities or service charges that have been applied to the check.
Large Order Number
Displays the order number in a large, bold font for easy visibility on the printed receipt.
Logo
Prints the venue’s logo at the top of the receipt. The logo image is uploaded in the Venue settings.
Loyalty Detail
Shows loyalty program activity, such as points earned or balance after the transaction.
Loyalty Prompt
Prints a message inviting the guest to enroll in or use the venue’s loyalty program.
Payment Detail
Shows details of each payment applied to the check, such as card type, last four digits, and authorization codes.
Payments Applied
Displays a summary of payments that have been applied toward the balance.
QR Code
Prints a QR code for digital receipts, feedback forms, or loyalty sign-ups, depending on configuration.
Room Charge Prompt
Displays a message or field to indicate that the check can be charged to a room, typically used in hotel environments.
Seat Items
Lists menu items ordered, including any associated modifiers or notes, grouped by seat if applicable and configured to do so. Seat subtotals along with other seat details can be configured under Formats > Settings.
Signature Line
Provides a line for guests to sign the printed receipt when required.
Subtotal
Displays the subtotal before taxes, tips, or additional fees.
Taxes
Shows applicable sales tax amounts. Additional display options are set under Formats > Settings.
Tip Check Boxes
Provides tip amount checkboxes (e.g., 15%, 18%, 20%) with check totals that can be selected by the guest by marking the amount they approve.
Tip Detail
Lists tip amounts by payment method when tips are entered at the POS.
Tip Suggestions
Prints suggested tip percentages (e.g., 15%, 18%, 20%) and calculated amounts based on the total due. The guest must still write in the tip amount and totals on the check.
Total
Displays the total amount due, including all taxes, discounts, and fees.
Venue Detail
Includes venue information such as restaurant name, address, and phone number. Additional display options are set under Formats > Settings.
Tip: Use the Receipt Section Pick List to customize the flow of your guest receipts for the best guest experience. For example, venues often place totals, tip suggestions, and signature lines at the bottom for easy visibility.
