What is the Remote Guest Display? π±
The Remote Guest Display setup pairs two main components:
- The Host POS Station: The main terminal (e.g., BW-E Next Version Tablet) where staff log orders.
- The Remote Guest Display: A separate guest-facing device running the NX Guest Terminal app (e.g., NX Pax A3700) paired directly to the host register.
Pre-Setup Checklist π
Before you get started, make sure you have the following ready to go:
- π Pax A3700 Device: Powered on and connected to the exact same Wi-Fi network as your host POS terminal.
- π₯οΈ Host POS Register: Running NX POS and signed into your venue.
- π Venue Pairing Code: A short authorization code provided in your NX Portal or by your store manager.
- π³ Merchant Account: Active card processing configured for your venue.
Step-by-Step Setup Guide βοΈ
1.Power On & Pair the Display:Pair the Pax A3700 hardware.
Turn on the Pax A3700 terminal. When the setup screen appears, enter your 6-digit Venue Pairing Code from the NX Portal. Once submitted, the screen will register itself and load your venue's idle screen.
2.Configure the A3700 Payment Device:Set up payment parameters in NX Portal.
Log into NX Portal on your computer or browser to set up the card reader profile:
- Navigate to Venue β Devices β Payment Devices.
- Click New Payment Device (or select the automatically created profile).
- Configure the following fields:
- Name: Enter a clear identifier (e.g.,
JXB A3700). - Secure Device ID: Select
Emv a3700 datacap. - Mode: Set to
Productionfor live processing. - Interface: Select
Ethernet. - IP Address: Set to
127.0.0.1. - IP Port: Set to
1235.

3.Configure the A3700 POS Device & Peripherals:Assign settings to the guest device profile.
- Navigate to Venue β Devices β POS Devices.
- Select the NX Pax A3700 device.
- Under Settings, verify the station Name (e.g.,
NX Pax A3700) and Default Area (e.g.,Coffee Shop). - Click the Peripherals tab.
- Under Connected Peripherals, set Payment Device to your newly created profile (e.g.,
JXB A3700). - Click Save. πΎ
4.Pair Host POS to Remote Display:Link the Host POS to your guest terminal.
- Stay in POS Devices and select your primary register station (e.g., BW-E Next Version Tablet).
- Click the Peripherals tab.
- Under Connected Peripherals, locate the Remote Guest Display Device field and select NX Pax A3700.
- Set Payment Device to none (The dropdown should read Select a Payment Device when no value is set)

- Restart the App: Completely close and reopen the NX POS app on your host station so it detects the new settings!
5.Confirm Connection Indicator:Verify live connection status.
Check the small status indicator dot in the bottom-left corner of the Pax A3700 screen:

6.Config Pay Device: Perform EMV Param Download to the device
- With the A3700 on the Idle screen, tap in the top left corner 3 times.
- You'll be presented with the Terminal Config screen. Here you'll confirm that the A3700 is configured properly.
- Make sure the Merchant ID matches what is configured in the NX Portal > Merchant Account setup. Once confirmed, press EMV Param Download. This will cause the A3700 to call out to the Gateway and download the latest Gateway Payment Configuration data.
- You'll likely see a screen like the below appear. Once complete, the device will reboot. Once it has rebooted, you're ready to test transactions.
Using the Display During Service π½οΈ
- π Live Order Streaming: As staff ring up items on the primary register, items and sub-totals display live on the guest terminal screen.
- π Guest Rewards Sign-In: Guests tap Rewards on the display screen and enter their phone number. Earned rewards load instantly and can be applied to the check with one tap!
- π³ Contactless Payment & Tipping: When tender is sent to the display, guests select a tip option, complete card payment (tap, swipe, or chip insert), sign on-screen, and pick their receipt format (Text, Print, QR Code, or None).
