Restoring Your Menu: How to Unarchive an Item in the NX Portal 📂🔄
When a seasonal dish leaves rotation or a modifier is temporarily discontinued, archiving it keeps your active database clean. If that item returns to your menu later, you don't need to reconstruct it from scratch. NX Restaurant allows you to quickly locate and Unarchive any historic record, restoring its settings, pricing, and modifier links instantly.
Step 1: Filter for Archived Records 🔍
By default, the NX Portal hides archived items to minimize screen clutter. To reveal them:
Navigate to Configuration > Menus > Items (or your respective Modifiers section) in the NX Portal.
Look at the footer bar at the bottom left of the screen.
Check the box labeled Archived.
The item grid will refresh to exclusively show your hidden, archived records.
Step 2: Trigger the Unarchive Action 🔓
Once your archived database is visible, locate the record you wish to bring back to life:
Use the Filter... search bar at the top of the grid to search for the item name.
Look at the actions column on the far right side of the item's row.
Tap the Unarchive icon (represented by a filing box with an upward arrow).
Step 3: Confirm and Finalize ✅
To protect your menu structure from accidental button clicks, NX requires a confirmation step:
An inline "Are you sure?" box will appear right in the row.
Click Yes.
The item will disappear from your archived list and blend back into your active menu database.
Critical Checklists After Unarchiving 📋
Bringing an item back into your active system restores its baseline metrics, but you should verify a few links before your servers ring it up on the floor:
Menu Set Verification: Double-check that the unarchived item is still attached to an active Menu Categories or Menu Set so that it properly draws onto the POS screen terminals.
Price Point Auditing: Review the Price Points and Taxes columns to confirm that the old pricing structure is still accurate for your current operational costs.
Prep Station Routing: Ensure the item's original Routing Destination (e.g., Kitchen printer or Expo screen) is still active so the tickets fire to the right place.
Need Help? 💡
The 'Archived' checkbox is missing from my footer.
Ensure you are viewing a master master list view (like Menus > Items). If you are inside a focused custom category sub-view, back out to the global list to access the database footer controls.
I unarchived an item but it's still not appearing on the POS terminals.
Tap the Reload button in the portal footer to force an immediate cloud sync, then ensure your POS terminal is connected to the network to download the updated menu tree payload.
