🧠Setting Up Floor Plan Start Order Buttons
Floor Plan Start Order Buttons give employees a convenient way to begin new orders directly from the floor plan — even when those orders aren’t linked to a physical table.
These buttons are ideal for Takeout, Delivery, Online Orders, or Bar Service, where orders originate outside the typical dining room layout.
🧩 Overview
By placing Command Objects on your floor plan layout, you can create tappable buttons that start new orders instantly.
When tapped on the POS, these buttons open a new order tied to the selected Area and Order Type.
⚙️ Step 1: Open Floor Plan Layouts
In the NX Portal, navigate to:
Venue → Floor Plans → Layouts
From the dropdown at the top, choose the layout you want to modify (e.g., Main Dining), and ensure the layout is set to Active.
🪄 Step 2: Add a Command Object
- In the Objects menu on the left side, select Command.
- Click anywhere on the floor plan to place the Command object.
- Use your mouse to drag and position it where you’d like the button to appear.

🧱 Step 3: Configure the Command Button
With the Command object selected, configure its settings using the toolbar at the top of the layout editor.
- Shape: Choose from Rectangle, Circle, or Label.
- Label: Enter the button’s name (e.g., Take Out Order, Delivery).
- Font Size: Adjust for readability.
- Area: Select which service area this command belongs to (e.g., Bar, Dine In, Online Ordering).
- Order Type: Select the order type that will start when the button is pressed (e.g., Take Out, Room Service, Delivery).

🧠Step 4: Assign an Area and Order Type
Use the dropdown menus to assign:
- Area: This determines which service area the order belongs to.
- Order Type: This determines how the order is processed (e.g., Bar, Room Service, Take Out).

đź’ľ Step 5: Save Your Layout
Once your Command buttons are placed and configured:
- Click Save in the upper-right corner.
- The buttons are now available for use on the POS device’s Floor Plan screen.
📱 Using the Command Buttons on POS
When employees view the floor plan in the NX App:
- They’ll see the labeled Command Buttons (e.g., “Take Out Order,” “Delivery”).
- Tapping one instantly starts a new order using the assigned Area and Order Type.
This makes it easy to initiate off-table orders without navigating through multiple menus.
