Creating and Using Tags in NX Restaurant
Tags in NX Restaurant allow you to label menu items with useful descriptors such as Vegetarian, Spicy, Gluten-Free, or Chef’s Special. These tags can appear in multiple areas, including the POS, guest-facing displays, and online ordering platforms, helping both staff and customers easily identify item attributes.
Where Tags Appear
Tags can be displayed:
- On the POS under item details.
- On rear-facing displays.
- On guest-facing areas, including:
- Online ordering sites
- Menu boards
- Kiosks
How to Set Up a Tag
To create a new tag:
- In the NX Restaurant Portal, navigate to Configuration > Tags.
- Click the + New button at the bottom of the list.
- In the Tag Settings section, configure the following:
- Name: Enter the tag name (e.g., Vegetarian). This name is shown across all relevant interfaces.
- Button Color: Choose the background color for the tag (using a color picker or HEX code).
- Text Color: Set the color of the text that appears on the tag.
- Icon (optional): Select an icon from the dropdown if you want to display one alongside the tag name.
- Click Save.
Applying Tags to Menu Items
Once tags are created, you can assign one or more to any menu item:
- Navigate to Configuration > Menus > Items.
- Select an item and go to the General tab.
- Choose the relevant tags from the available list.
- Save the menu item.
Best Practices
- Keep tag names short and easily recognizable.
- Use distinct colors for visual clarity.
- Avoid assigning too many tags to a single item, as this can cause clutter on guest-facing views.
