๐ณ Reapplying a Previous Card Payment
Have you ever had a payment go to the wrong table, or perhaps a guest changed their mind after a transaction was already processed? No worries! With NX Restaurant, you can easily search for a previously processed card payment and apply it to a new or existing order. This saves you from having to ask the guest for their card a second time!
๐ข Prerequisites
To use this feature, ensure your user profile has the following permission enabled:
Check: Payments - Reapply
Note: You can reapply any successfully processed payment, even if that specific payment was originally voided.
๐ How to Reapply a Payment
Follow these simple steps to move a payment to your current order:
Open the Payment Screen: From your active order, navigate to the payment terminal view.
Open the Tender Options Menu: Tap the three vertical dots (โฎ) next to the Credit tender option on the right side of the screen.
Select Search: From the dropdown menu, tap Search.
Find the Transaction: A Payment Search window will appear.
Select the Date the original payment was made.
Use the Search bar to type in the last 4 digits of the card, the Order number or the guests name.
Tap the correct transaction from the results list.
Confirm the Application: An Apply Payment prompt will appear asking if you want to apply the specific card to the current balance. Tap Confirm.
Finalize: Once the system processes the request, you will see a Transaction Progress screen marked Approved. Tap Continue to return to your order.
โ ๏ธ Important Tip for Mobile Wallets
Contactless payments (like Apple Pay) may occasionally be declined when you try to reapply them. This is due to security restrictions set by Apple regarding the use of "contactless tokens" for future or secondary transactions. If this happens, you will need to ask the guest to tap their device again.

Payment not appearing? Double-check the date filter in the Search window. If the payment was made before midnight on a previous shift, you may need to adjust the calendar.
Button is greyed out? You likely do not have the Check: Payments - Reapply permission. Reach out to your Floor Manager to update your access.
