Helping Your Team: Setting Up Tip Out Suggestions 💸
Managing a busy shift is hard enough without doing math at the end of the night! The Tip Out Suggestions feature in NX Restaurant helps your staff quickly see how much they should share with their support team (like Baristas or Bussers) based on their actual sales.
By automating these calculations, you ensure fairness and save your team time during the checkout process. 💸
⚙️ How to Configure Tip Out Suggestions
Tip Out Suggestions are set at the Job level (e.g., for all "Servers" or "GMs"). This allows you to customize different rules for different roles in your restaurant.
Navigate to Configuration > Labor > Jobs in your NX Restaurant back office.
Select the Job you want to edit (e.g., GM or Server).
Scroll down to the Tip Out Suggestions section.
Toggle the Use Tip Out Suggestions switch to ON (purple).
Click the plus (+) button to add a new suggestion rule:
Receiving Job: Choose who gets the tip (e.g., Barista).
Sales Category: Choose which sales count toward this (e.g., Food, Liquor, or All).
% of Sales: Enter the percentage for the calculation (e.g., 10.00%).
Time Range (Optional): If this only applies during "Happy Hour" or specific dates, set those here.
Click Save.
💡 Pro Tip: The "Time Range" is based on when a guest's check was opened, not when it was paid!
📄 How to See Suggestions on the Shift Report
Once configured, these suggestions appear automatically on the employee's Shift Summary. However, there is one important rule: The report must be linked to a Time Card.
Running the Report
From the POS, select Shift Report.
In the Shift Report Options pop-up, ensure you select the specific Time Card for that shift.
Tap Run Report.
Reading the Results
Under the Tip Out Suggestions section of the report, the system will display:
Receiving Job: Who to tip.
Amount ($): The calculated total based on your settings.
❓ Troubleshooting & FAQs
Why aren't the suggestions showing up on the Shift Summary?
The most common reason is that the report was run for a "Date" only. Ensure the employee selects their specific Time Card (e.g., 7:09 AM - 4:00 PM) when running the report!
Can I have multiple tip out rules for one job?
Yes! You can add multiple rows. For example, a Server can have a 2% tip out for the Bar and a 3% tip out for the Bussers simultaneously.
Does this automatically deduct money from the payroll?
No. These are suggestions meant to guide the employee during their cash out. It makes the manual "envelope" process much faster and more accurate.
