💳 Setting Up Third-Party Gift Cards
Want to give your guests more ways to pay? NX Restaurant makes it easy to integrate third-party gift card providers like Valutec or E-Card Systems. Once set up, your POS will even "smart-detect" which card is being swiped!
Follow these steps to get your gift card integration up and running. 🎁
Step 1: Create Your Gift Card Type (Enterprise Level) 🏛️
First, we need to define the gift card at the high level so your whole organization knows it exists.
In the NX Portal, go to Enterprise Settings > Gift Card Types.
Click Add New (or select an existing one to edit).
Name your card: Give it a clear name (e.g., "Valutec Gift").
Select Your Provider: Choose your provider from the Gift Card Provider dropdown menu.
Add the BIN Range (Recommended): If you know the BIN Range Prefix (the first few numbers on the card), enter it here.
Why do this? This allows NX to automatically detect which provider to use if you have multiple gift card types active. ✨
Step 2: Configure Your Venue Integration 📍
Now that the card type exists, you need to "plug in" your specific account credentials for your venue.
Switch to the Venue level in the portal.
Navigate to Venue > Integrations.
Select your Integration Partner from the dropdown (e.g., Valutec or E-Card Systems).
Enter Your Credentials: Depending on the partner, you will need to enter the info they provided you:
For Valutec: Usually requires a Terminal ID, Location ID, and Client Key.
For E-Card Systems: Usually requires a Username and Password.
Click Save.
Step 3: Use it at the POS! 🖥️
Once saved, your new gift card type will automatically appear on your POS screen.
Automatic Detection: When you swipe a card or enter a number, NX will check the BIN range you entered in Step 1 to decide which provider to talk to.
Balance Checks: This same smart-detection works for balance inquiries too!
Manual Choice: If you didn't set a BIN range, NX will default to the first provider in your list.
Troubleshooting & Tips 💡
Card Not Recognized: Double-check that the BIN Range Prefix matches the first few digits of your physical cards. 🔢
"Unauthorized" Errors: This usually means a typo in your Integration credentials (Step 2). Re-enter your Terminal ID or Password and try again.
Multiple Providers: If you use more than one gift card company, BIN ranges are required to ensure the right account is charged!
