Understanding and Configuring Menu Sets in NX Restaurant
Think of Menu Sets as the "playlists" for your restaurant's digital menus. Just as you might have a different playlist for a relaxed brunch versus a busy bar scene, Menu Sets allow you to control exactly which food categories and price levels appear on your POS terminals or digital storefronts.
By attaching a Menu Set to a specific Area or Channel, you ensure that your staff and customers only see what is relevant—whether that is a "Coffee Shop" set for the cafe station or a specific "DoorDash" set for third-party delivery.
What is in a Menu Set?
A Menu Set is made up of two primary components:
Categories: These are your broad groupings of items, such as "Coffee Drinks - Espresso," "Cafe Bagels," or "Cafe Sandwiches".
Price Points: These define which sizes, portions, or specific pricing tiers are available, such as "small," "large," or "box".

How to Create or Edit a Menu Set
Follow these steps in the NX Portal to build your custom menu collections:
-
Navigate to Menu Sets:Â
Open the Configuration menu on the left sidebar.
Click on Menus, then select Menu Sets.
-
Name Your Set:Â
Enter a clear, descriptive Name. This is the name that displays as the menu set option in the POS and on guest-facing pages.
-
Select Categories:Â
In the Categories section, move the desired menu groups from the Available list to the Selected list using the arrow buttons.
-
Assign Price Points:Â
Scroll down to the Price Points section.
Move the specific sizes or pricing tiers from the Available column to the Selected column.
-
Save Your Changes:Â
Click the Save button in the bottom right corner to finalize the set.
Â
Why Use Multiple Menu Sets?
Station Specifics: Your Barista doesn't need to scroll through "12'' Pizza" while making a latte; a "Coffee Shop" set keeps their screen focused and fast.
Online & Third-Party Ordering: You can create specific Menu Sets for Online Ordering, DoorDash, or UberEats. This allows you to hide items that don't travel well or adjust which Price Points are available for delivery.
Regional Pricing: If you have a patio bar that uses different pricing than the main dining room, you can create sets with specific Price Points tailored to that area.
