Editing Menu Item Prices at the Enterprise and Venue Level in NX Restaurant
In NX Restaurant, menu item pricing can be managed at two levels: the enterprise level and the venue level. This flexibility allows multi-location operators to maintain consistency across venues while also customizing pricing as needed for individual locations.
This article outlines how to update pricing at both levels using the Cheese Dip menu item as an example, as demonstrated in the training video.
Enterprise-Level Pricing
Enterprise-level prices are the default prices used by all venues unless a venue-specific override is configured.
To edit a price at the enterprise level:
- Go to Configuration > Menus > Items.
- Select the menu item (e.g., Cheese Dip).
- Ensure Enterprise Settings is selected at the top of the page.
- Scroll to the Default Menu Item Price or Price Points (depending on how your setup is configured).
- Update the price fields as needed.
- Click Save.
Result: All venues that are using enterprise defaults will automatically use the new price.
Venue-Level Price Overrides
If a venue needs to charge different prices from the enterprise default, prices can be overridden at the venue level.
To override a price at the venue level:
- From the item details page, switch to Venue Settings at the top of the screen.
- Use the dropdown to select one or more venues where you want to override the pricing.
- Update the price fields under Default Menu Item Price or Price Points.
- Click Save.
Result: The selected venue(s) will now use the new price, and will no longer receive updates from the enterprise-level configuration for this field.
✅ Tip: You can apply the same price override to multiple venues at once by selecting multiple venues in the dropdown list before saving.
Best Practices
- Use enterprise pricing to maintain consistency across locations.
- Use venue overrides when regional pricing differences are required (e.g., different markets, taxes, or customer expectations).
Remember: once a price is overridden at the venue level, any future updates at the enterprise level will no longer apply to that venue for that item.
