🧩 Overview
Esper allows you to manage your fleet of NX Android devices through hierarchical group structures. When working with NXR's ecosystem, it is common to have a Partner-level group and then create subgroups to better organize venues, testing labs, and demo devices.
This guide walks you through the steps to create subgroups under your Dealership group in Esper.
✅ Prerequisites
Before creating subgroups, ensure the following:
- You have access to the Esper Console with sufficient permissions.
- Your Partner group already exists and was created during onboarding.
- You have a clear naming convention (e.g., VenueName - POS1, VenueName - Bar, etc.).
🛠️ Steps to Create a Subgroup in Esper
- Login to Esper Console
- Go to nxrest.esper.cloud and log in using your credentials.
- Navigate to Groups
- From the left-hand sidebar:
- Click “Devices & Groups” to see the hierarchy.
- Switch to Grid: Subgroups view
- Click + Add
- Select New Subgroup
- Select the Parent Group that you would like the new group nested under.
- Some Partners prefer to have deep hirearchies of groups (i.e. Enterprise > Venue1, Venue 2 etc.), while others prefer a more flat design (Venue 1, Venue 2 etc.)
- Enter a Group Name and optional Group Description
- Click Create
- Voila 🎉 your group has been created and you may now move Devices into that group.
