Mapping Dual Screens: Configuring the Touch Panel Selector App 🖥️👈
On legacy hardware running dual-screen setups, Android can occasionally mix up touch data inputs, sending a tap meant for your customer-facing screen back to your main cashier display. The Touch Panel Selector utility app forces the hardware to map inputs precisely.
⚠️ Note: This configuration process is entirely plug-and-play and not required on modern hardware, including the NX11, NX15, and NX22 models.
🚦 Prerequisites before Setup
Before continuing, verify your device environment satisfies these parameters:
Multi-App Mode Enforced: Your Android OS profile must be actively provisioned in MultiApp Mode (managed via your device management dashboard, like Esper).
App Installation: The TouchPanelSelector app package must be fully pushed and installed on the station launcher background.
Step-by-Step Configuration Flow
1. Launch the Utility App
Unlock the station to view the default desktop home screen layout. Tap the TouchPanelSelector application icon located near your core system setting tiles.
2. Enter Configuration Mode
The app interface will initialize, listing detected local touch hardware metrics (e.g., ILITEK-TP panels). Look toward the bottom center of the interface and tap Configure.
3. Register the Main Display Input
The utility app will display a blacked-out view labeled Main display at the top.
Action: Firmly tap the center box labeled "Please touch HERE first." * This ties your first hardware touch interface path explicitly to the cashier layout window.
4. Register the Customer-Facing Display Input
Once the main step is registered, look over at your physical Secondary Display screen. It will refresh to show a white background window saying "Touch the screen and shows the touch panel info here."
Action: Walk around to the customer's side and confirm that the Secondary Display is registered
5. Commit Changes & Cycle Power
Return to the cashier side of the terminal. The main monitor display will now show a finalized window path. Tap the center button at the bottom labeled Save & reboot.
The tablet will automatically save the device config tree maps and execute a hard system cycle. Once the system reboots to the launcher, touch inputs will target their correct coordinates.
Need Help? 💡
The second screen turns white but does not register my taps.
Check the physical display connection routing. Dual screens use separate cables for the raw video feed (HDMI/Type-C) and the touch command path (frequently a separate USB cable). Ensure both lines are firmly seated in the terminal base ports.
I don't see the TouchPanelSelector app icon on my home screen.
Your device is likely locked inside a dedicated "Kiosk Mode" or single-app profile. Reach out to your venue administrator or corporate IT manager to have them provision your terminal profile to MultiApp Mode via the Esper console.
