Technical Guide: Reimaging the NX6 Handheld Terminal 📱🛠️
This guide provides step-by-step technical instructions for reimaging the NX6 handheld device. This process is typically used for major firmware updates or to recover a device experiencing software instability.
⚠️ CAUTION: READ BEFORE PROCEEDING
The following instructions must be followed EXACTLY as written. Failure to perform these steps in the correct order, or interrupting the process while it is running, may result in an imaging failure and could leave the NX6 in a permanently unusable ("bricked") state.
1. Prerequisites & Preparation
Before beginning, ensure you are using a Windows-based PC and have a high-quality USB-A to USB-C cable.
Download the Required Files
Log in to the NX Portal and navigate to Docs & Files > Tools & Utilities. Download the following two archives:
NX6 - 250419.zip (The ROM/Image file)
NX6 Flash Tools.zip (The software required to flash the device)
Extract Resources
Unzip NX6 Flash Tools.zip. Inside, you will find the
Driver_Auto_Installerand theSP_Flash_Toolfolder.Install the Driver first.
Unzip NX6 - 250419.zip (the ROM) to an easy-to-find directory on your PC.
2. Configuring the Flash Tool
Navigate to the extracted
SP_Flash_Toolfolder and executeflash_tool.exe.Load the Download Agent: Click the choose button next to Download-Agent. Navigate to the
SP_Flash_Toolfolder and select the file namedMTK_AllInOne_DA.bin.Load the Scatter File: Click the choose button next to Scatter-loading file. Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the ROM and select the file named
MT6771_Android_scatter.txt.
3. The Flashing Process
Set Mode: In the dropdown menu within the tool, ensure Firmware Upgrade is selected.
Note: Selecting other modes like "Format All" can erase critical calibration data. Use Firmware Upgrade only.
Ready the Software: Click the green Download button at the top of the tool. The tool is now waiting for the device to connect.
Connect the Hardware:
Ensure the NX6 Handheld is fully powered off.
Connect the USB-A side of the cable to your Windows PC.
CRITICAL STEP: Connect the USB-C side to the NX6 last.
Automatic Start: The update will begin automatically as soon as the USB-C cable is detected. You do not need to press the power button on the handheld.
4. Finalizing the Update
Watch the progress bar at the bottom of the screen.
Once completed, a window with a large green checkmark (Download Ok) will appear.
Unplug the USB-C cable.
Power on the NX6 handheld. The first boot after imaging may take longer than usual as the system initializes.
Troubleshooting 💡
The tool doesn't start when I plug in the cable.
Ensure you installed the Driver Auto Installer from the Flash Tools zip.
Ensure the device was completely powered off before connecting.
Try a different USB port on your PC (avoid using USB hubs).
I received an error message during the flash.
Do not unplug the device. Check that your scatter file matches the ROM version downloaded. If the process stopped, close the tool, reopen it, and restart from Section 3, Step 1.
Need Help?
If the device fails to flash, you may reattempt. If subsequent attempts fail, the device will have to be RMA'd to the manufacturer. Contact NX Support or open an RMA request with the manufacturer directly.
