To ensure a reliable and secure experience with your Cloud POS system, it’s important to set up your internet and network infrastructure with best practices in mind. Use the checklist below to verify that your environment meets the requirements.
🌐 Internet Connection
- Minimum: 25 Mbps Download / 10 Mbps Upload
- Recommended: 50+ Mbps Download / 20+ Mbps Upload
- Latency: < 50ms
- Packet Loss: < 1%
🖧 Network Hardware
- Business-class router or firewall with QoS & dual-WAN support
- Gigabit managed switch
- Separate SSIDs for POS and Guest Wi-Fi
🔄 Redundancy
- Backup internet (4G/5G LTE or secondary ISP)
- UPS (battery backup) for router, switches, and POS devices
- Surge protection for all hardware
💻 POS & Printers
- POS workstations connected via wired Ethernet (Cat6 or higher)
- Remote printers on wired Ethernet (preferred)
- Strong Wi-Fi signal if wireless is used (-65 dBm or better)
⚙️ Network Setup
- POS VLAN separate from guest Wi-Fi
- Firewall rules restricting POS traffic to necessary destinations
- Static IPs or DHCP reservations for reliable device addressing
🔒 Security
- Strong, unique passwords for all devices
- Regular firmware updates for routers, switches, and access points
- Encrypted Wi-Fi (WPA2 or WPA3)
- Guest Wi-Fi completely isolated from the POS network
