Setting Up Time-Based Menu Items in NX Restaurant
Time-based items in NX Restaurant are designed for businesses that charge customers based on how long they use a product or service. When configured, these menu items will calculate price per minute and apply the appropriate charges automatically.
Common examples include:
- Pool tables or billiards (charge per minute or hour of play)
- Room rentals for private dining or events
- Timed experiences (karaoke, escape rooms, arcade zones, etc.)
How to Enable Time-Based Pricing
To configure a menu item for time-based pricing:
- Go to: Configuration > Menus > Items
- Select or create an item that you want to be time-based.
- Enable the setting:
- Toggle Time based item to ON.
- This means pricing will be calculated based on the duration from when the item is started to when it is stopped.
- (Optional) Toggle Times span price points ON if you want pricing to adjust dynamically through different pricing periods (e.g., peak vs. off-peak hours).
- Choose a rounding rule under Timed Item Rounding, this controls how the duration is rounded once the item is stopped:
- None
- 15 Minute
- Half Hour
- Full Hour
- Set Price Points:
- Define specific price rules (e.g., $10/hour during weekdays, $20/hour on weekends) using Price Points from Configuration > Ordering > Price Points. Then add them to the item here.
Advanced Use: Auto-Ring on Tables
You can automatically start a timed item when a table is opened by linking the item to a table:
- Navigate to: Venue > Floor Plans > Tables
- Select a table and assign the Auto-Ring Item field to your timed item.
