Configuring Online Ordering in NX Restaurant
Online ordering is a vital part of modern restaurant operations. Whether you’re setting up a new digital storefront or fine-tuning an existing one, the Online Ordering tab within the Areas configuration is your command center.
Follow this guide to get your digital menu live, manage order flow, and ensure your team stays updated with real-time notifications.
Getting Started
To access these settings, navigate to Configuration > Areas in the sidebar. Select the specific area you wish to edit and click on the Online Ordering tab.
Pro Tip: If you are managing multiple locations, use the Venue Settings toggle at the top to apply specific overrides for a single venue, or use Enterprise Settings for brand-wide defaults.
1. General Availability
Before customers can see your menu online, you need to toggle the lights on.
Enabled: Switch this to ON to allow the system to process online orders for this area.
Active: This indicates if online ordering is currently live.
2. Ordering Times & Logic
Manage how and when guests can place orders.
Allow Future/Queued Orders: Enable this if you want guests to place orders for a later time or date.
Auto-Hold Orders: When enabled, orders are held in the system and must be manually "fired" by staff. Keep this OFF if you want orders to go straight to the kitchen.
Default Lead Time (mins): Set the base time it takes to prepare an order. This helps manage guest expectations (e.g., "Ready in 20 minutes").
Availability: Select a specific Time Range (configured in the Time Ranges section) to restrict when the online ordering page is active.
3. Order Controls & Loyalty
This section ensures your reporting and guest experience are seamless.
Order Types: Select which order types (e.g., Takeout, Delivery) are available.
Revenue Center: Map these sales to a specific revenue center (e.g., "Online Ordering") for clean financial reporting.
Allow Item Notes: Toggle this ON to let guests add special requests (e.g., "No onions").
Loyalty Plans: Link your existing NX Loyalty plan so guests can earn points or redeem rewards while ordering online.
4. Branding & Images
Make your ordering page look professional by adding visual flair.
Header Logo: Upload your restaurant’s logo to appear at the top of the ordering page.
Main Image: Choose a high-quality hero image (like a shot of your dining room or a signature dish) to serve as the background for your digital storefront.
5. Notifications (Staying Informed)
Never miss an order! Configure how your team is alerted when a new ticket arrives.
In-Store Notifications
Notification Sound: Choose a distinct tone for both DSP (Delivery Service Provider) and standard Online Orders.
POS Devices: Select which tablets or terminals in the kitchen or front-of-house should play the alert.
# of times to play: Set how many times the sound repeats to ensure your staff hears it.
External Notifications
You can also send automated alerts to specific staff members:
Email Notifications: Enter an email address to receive a summary of every order placed.
SMS Notifications: Enter a mobile number to receive a text alert the moment a guest hits "Order."
6. Printing
Under the In-Store Receipt Printing section, select the specific Receipt Printers that should automatically print a physical ticket when a new online order is confirmed.
Next Steps: Styling Your Page
Looking to change the URL, colors, or specific subdomain of your ordering site? Those advanced styling options are located under Venue Settings > Subdomain Setup.
Remember to click "Save" at the bottom right of the screen to apply your changes!
