Teamwork at the Till: Assigning Employees to a Cash Tray 👥💵
Service is a team effort, and often more than one person needs to take cash payments from the same drawer. Whether a new server is starting their shift or a bartender is jumping in to help at a busy register, NX Restaurant makes it easy to add authorized staff to an open Cash Tray on the fly.
Why Assign Multiple Employees? 🤔
When an employee is assigned to a tray, they are granted permission to perform cash transactions on that specific drawer. By adding names to a tray, you ensure:
Accountability: You know exactly who was authorized to handle the cash in that drawer.
Seamless Service: Teammates can ring up sales without needing a manager to constantly "override" or open new drawers.
Shared Responsibility: Perfect for bar environments or counter service where a single till is shared by a pod of employees.
How to Add Employees to an Active Tray 📝
You can update the authorized list for any tray that is currently marked as OPEN.
Open the Cash Trays Menu: Navigate to Cash Trays from your sidebar or Manager Menu.
Locate the Active Tray: Find the open tray you wish to update in the list.
Tap "Add Employees": Click the green Add Employees button located in the actions column for that tray.
Select Your Teammates: An "Add Employees to Tray" window will pop up. Tap the dropdown menu to see a list of available staff.
Confirm Selection: Tap the names of the employees you wish to add. Once your selection is made, tap the button to finalize.
Important Rules for Assignments 🔐
Clock-In Required: An employee must be clocked in to appear in the selection list and be assigned to a tray.
One Tray at a Time: Depending on your venue's configuration, an employee may be restricted to only being assigned to one tray at a time.
Permission Based: Only staff with the Cash Tray: Modify or Cash Tray: Add Self to Tray permissions can add or remove people from an active tray.
Need Help? 💡
I don't see my teammate's name in the list.
Double-check that they have successfully clocked in for their shift! If they are clocked in and still missing, ensure their Job Code has the correct permissions to handle cash.
Can I remove someone from a tray?
Yes! If an employee finishes their shift early, a manager can open the tray details in the NX Portal or on the POS and remove them from the "Assigned Employees" list.
