The End of Day process in NX marks the close of a business day, finalizing all sales, labor, and accounting data before rolling into the next day’s operations.

This process is essential for maintaining accurate reporting, balancing checks, and ensuring POS devices are synchronized for the next business day.

⚙️ Overview

Each venue in NX has a defined End of Day Time, which tells the system when to close out the current business date.

At that time, NX automatically:

• Closes $0 balance checks (if enabled)
• Moves or closes open orders according to your chosen setting
• Reloads POS devices (if enabled)
• Generates accounting data for reporting and exports

🕘 Setting the End of Day Time

In the NX Portal, go to:
Financial → Accounting → End of Day

The End of Day Time field determines when the business day officially ends.
This is entered in 24-hour format (for example, 22:00 = 10:00 PM, 03:00 = 3:00 AM).

The Next Day Close toggle is one of the most important End of Day settings.
It tells NX whether the venue’s End of Day process should close the next calendar day rather than the current one.

Enable Next Day Close any time your venue runs End of Day after midnight local time.

For example:

• NX Bar & Grill Store #101 closes at 3:00 AM.
  • Enable Next Day Close so the business day reflects the previous evening’s sales.

This prevents your business day from appearing artificially short (e.g., a day that only runs from 12:00 AM–3:00 AM).

Only disable Next Day Close if you explicitly want the business day to close during the same calendar day — such as a special operation where the business day should end early (for example, an overnight venue that closes its accounting at 8:00 AM for the current date).

The Open Orders setting determines how NX manages checks that are still open when End of Day runs.

Options include:

1. Close with Tender – Closes all open checks with a tender applied.
2. Close with No Tender – Force-closes open checks as $0 balance.
3. Move to Next Business Day – Leaves checks open, carrying them into the next day.
4. Move to Next Business Day and Renumber – Carries open checks to the next day and assigns new check numbers.

Financial → Accounting → NX Defaults
This applies to all venues unless an override exists.

Venue Overrides

Use overrides only for locations that operate differently — such as 24-hour venues.

• Most NX Bar & Grill locations close before midnight and share the Enterprise-level setting (Next Day Close = ON).
• A 24-hour store (e.g., Store #203) can override to close at 08:00 AM with Next Day Close = OFF.
