Controlling Your Menu with "Allowed In" Settings 📍
Ever wanted to offer a special dish only for online orders, or keep a specific modifier like "extra spicy" just for your in-house guests? With our new Allowed In feature, you have total control over where your menu categories, items, and modifiers appear! 🎯
This setting allows you to hide or show content based on the "Order Source," such as your POS, Online Ordering, Kiosk, or Third-Party apps.
Where to Find the "Allowed In" Setting 🔍
You can find this new field in several places within your Menu Configuration. The system follows a hierarchy, meaning you can set rules for an entire group or just a single specific item:
Menu Categories: Control an entire section (like "Appetizers").
Menu Category > Menu Items: Control a specific item within a category.
Modifier Categories: Control a group of options (like "Pizza Toppings").
Menu Items: Control the item's availability globally across all categories.
How it Works: Step-by-Step 🛠️
1. Limiting Items within a Category
If you want a specific item to stay off the POS but be available for delivery, you can configure this at the Category level.
Go to Menus > Categories and select your category (e.g., Burgers & Sandwiches).
Under the Menu Items tab, find your item.
In the Allowed In dropdown, select only the sources you want (e.g., "Online Order").
Result: In the example below, the Caesar Wrap (Chicken) is set to Online Order only, so it won't appear on your server's POS screen! ❌📱

2. Hiding Specific Modifiers
This is perfect for items that don't travel well or options you only want to offer in person.
Go to Menus > Items and select your modifier (e.g., Well Done).
In the General tab, locate the Allowed In field.
Select "POS" if you only want your staff to be able to ring it up.
Result: Your online customers will only see the options you've allowed for "Online Order," keeping your digital menu clean and efficient! 🍔✨

The Hierarchy Rule 👑
Keep in mind how the "Allowed In" logic flows:
Category > Category Items > Individual Items
If you disable a whole Category for "Online Order," none of the items inside it will show up online, even if the individual items are set to "Allowed In: Online Order." The most restrictive setting at the highest level wins!
Need Help? 💡
I set an item to "Online Order," but it's still showing on my POS.
Check the Menu Category level! You might have "POS" still selected in the category-item joiner settings. Double-check that both the Item and the Category-Item link have the correct sources selected.
Can I select multiple sources?
Yes! You can click as many sources as you like (e.g., POS, Online, and Kiosk) in the dropdown menu.
