In a busy restaurant, every second counts! While some staff members need to see every modifier option to ensure order accuracy, others—like experienced bartenders—might find extra pop-up screens a bit distracting.
The Suppress Pop-To Areas feature allows you to choose exactly which parts of your restaurant (like the Bar or Patio) should skip the automatic modifier pop-up screens for specific items.
Why Use This?
Speed Up Service: Experienced staff can enter orders faster without clicking through unnecessary screens.
Customized Experience: Tailor the POS behavior based on the specific needs of different service areas.
Safety Net: Even if a pop-up is suppressed, all minimum requirements (like "How many glasses?") are still enforced if the user manually opens the modifier menu.
How to Suppress Modifier Pop-Ups by Area
Follow these simple steps to customize your item settings:
Log in to your NX Restaurant Back Office.
Navigate to Menus > Items in the left-hand sidebar.
Select the Item you wish to edit (e.g., "Lite Beer" or "Bottle of Wine").
Click on the Modifiers tab at the top of the item configuration page.
Locate the Modifier Category you want to adjust (e.g., "Bar Instructions" or "Glass Count").
Look for the field labeled Suppress Pop-To Areas.
Click the dropdown menu and select the Area(s) where you want to hide the automatic pop-up.
Example: Select "Bar" if you want your bartenders to skip the automatic prompt.
Click the Save button at the bottom right of the screen. Done! ✅
Important Things to Remember 💡
Requirements Still Apply: If a modifier category has a "Minimum" requirement of 1, the user must still fulfill that requirement before they can send the order to the kitchen/bar.
Manual Access: Staff can still add modifiers manually by tapping on the item in the cart, even if the automatic pop-up is suppressed.
Auto-Progress: This feature works alongside Auto-Progress. If you have Auto-Progress turned on, the POS will simply skip the suppressed category and move to the next available one! 🏃♂️💨
Troubleshooting & Tips 🛠️
The pop-up is still appearing at the Bar? Double-check that you hit "Save" after selecting the area and ensure that the correct Area name is listed in the "Suppress Pop-To Areas" box.
Staff can't send the order? If a pop-up is suppressed but has a Minimum Requirement (like selecting a meat temperature), the staff member will need to manually tap the item to select the required modifier before the order can be finalized.
